This is all looking like (dare I say it) an AFGM stated mid to late 1st round draft pick

I think the mitch clark is about par as to what will eventuate. Pick in the teens plus 2nd round and jolly perhaps

Don't need to deal. GWS can take anyone this year. This also most likely means no compo for us but yeah, PSD really isn't an option.

What's to say GWS would even take him though? They decided to not chase Cloke earlier in the year even though they could've gotten him for free. If Tippett puts a massive contract on his head, will GWS want to commit to that at risk of compromising signing their future talent?

Also what's to stop GC giving GWS a little extra for a trade for the MD1, in return for saying they won't take Tippett?

I know it's very unlikely to happen, but you can't rule out GC using the PSD as leverage completely. In the end I reckon he'll go for the Caddy compensation + a player not of the ilk Day/Gorringe. Similar to what Brisbane got for Clark last year.

Whitfield was just a Rowey F***up. Noble said that Tippett had the option of going in the "draft", referring to the pre-season draft. Rowey then said GWS wouldn't take Tippett over Whitfield. There is no point Kurt going in the national draft as opposed to the PSD. You have muppets like dumb and dumber misinforming the public and it then gets into the twittersphere.

It's like watching a B grade movie when you've been told how it ends but it's interesting to see how it gets there.

1) Not be so gullible. It was obvious to anyone with half a brain that if Kurt didn't sign by finals, he was heading out.
2) Its too late now but rather than accept a crap deal during trade week, send a player to the pre-season draft.
3) Come out and publically complain about umpiring, tribunal, etc etc..
4) Publically ask the AFL for player retension consessions. If Sydney gets them WTF shouldn't the Adelaide teams considering we would be one
of the least desireable places to play football in the country.

Can I just put out there (at the risk of being smashed) if Carey one of the best players of all time with more than 700 goals to his name and an avg of 2.6 goals per game as a CHF was worth pick 4 but Tippett with 1.6 is worth pick 2?

Carey was 31 or 32 years old at the time and we clearly overpaid massively for him. Our pick 18 alone should have been enough to get it done, given his age, the fact he'd nominated us and that the Kangas had no choice but to get him out of there.

I conceed the 5 years age difference but even with Tippett in his prime as you say he is no where near a Carey even at 30, in fact Carey was still averaging 2 goals a game in his time at the Crows as a CHF not a deep FF like Tippett. You quote Tippett being more valuable due to his ruck ability I would rather have Ducks game winning ability.

I think you guys have every right to push to get the best deal, I just think that he is not worth the No2 pick, he isn't a Judd (picks 3 and 20) or Carey (pick 4).

Yet your club is offering a salary that would put him amongst the top 5% of AFL wage earners. I think every BF board should have stickied, a list of all the top 5 draft picks that never made it, or failed to live up to their junior reputation.

If Gold Coast don't want to give up anything we want. Why wouldnt we Target a player from which ever club wants Caddy the most and do a three way trade. We'd prob still get unders but it might be better than what GC will give us directly.

Sorry mate, where is the contract stating what we have offered Kurt, as far as I am aware the dollars have been all media speculation, happy to be proven incorrect.
I do know what my club has stated and that is that we will not match Kurt's current contract let alone exceed it.

What's getting overlooked is what a pack of ****ing incompetent arseholes the AFL are. How can they let GWS take a player if the club has already lost a player? What's to stop GWS telling a player like Tex, here is $1M, dont sign and we will pick you up in the PSD.

As for the attitude of the Gold Coast, they obviously know they've got Kurt otherwise they wouldnt start talking tough on the trade already potentially putting off Kurt. C'mon Kurt be a stand up man you arse wipe and nominate GC so we can get on with it.

Wish it wasn't so long. It always gets played out in the media like this with no one showing their hand publicly, same with any kind of negotiation with a house, investment, business, car etc...etc...

I don't mind repeating myself a little in that I think the Mitch Clark trade last year is probably something similar to expect as they are of the same type of player, forward/ruck, similar contract, similar age in their peak, similar body type and atheleticism. Pick 12 got it done last year, I suspect something in the low/mid teens + 2nd rounder. Or perhaps Hayden Jolly who came out last week I think it was requesting a trade back to SA, so he could be thrown somewhere in there as well.

Alternatively maybe a 3 way trade with a Vic team involving Caddy with some swapping of some picks. He just needs to bloody nominate so we can further chalk up some hypotheticals for next couple weeks!!
