We've been talking about 3 way trades for the past few pages. Apparently Brisbane are interested in White. So Bris/Syd/Adel threesome may be on the cards.
But how, when there's such a massive discrepancy in value between White (worth pick 60+), Tippett (worth 2x 1st round picks, one of those being top-10) and Sydney's #23, which appears to be all that they're willing to contribute to the trade?

These Polec + Pick 8 proposals are ludicrous. Even if Polec has drifted a bit from his #5 rating two years ago, he's still worth around a pick 6-12 today. Having said that, Brisbane will be wary that it might be worth cashing in on Polec this year, with a year to go on his contract, lest the Lions end up in exactly the same situation next year that the Crows are facing now re Tippett.

So therefore, based on a rating of pick 6-12, Tippett out and Polec in seems reasonably fair as far as trades go. Polec's outside run and silky skills are really the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle to complete a very dangerous midfield for the Crows, remembering also that Crouch comes in next year also.

I don't think we can kid ourselves that KT is going anywhere other than the Swans. Yes, he's a c***, but we have to play ball if we want to take some positives out of this for 2013 and beyond.

Brisbane are desperately seeking a KPF (Merrett at FF this year was laughable), so I think this sounds close to being fair for all parties, given the circumstances:

Adelaide
In: Polec Out: Tippett

Brisbane
In: Pick 23 + 45 + Jesse White Out: Polec

Sydney
In: Tippett Out: 23 + 45 + White
Thats exactly what I suggested a couple pages back but it was laughed off by Browndog. Wont happen anyway...

I thought our need was an outside midfielder with pace that would provide run and carry. Polec fits that description, is good size and is a local lad. i would have thought that getting Polec would be addressing a need.
Yep, he's every bit the type of player we should be targeting for the reasons you have quoted. We have plenty of high quality inside ball winners, however we are short on outside line breakers with a little class.

I think Crows fans need to realise the difference between fairness and reality.

Look at this situation from a Swans perspective, why would we want to give you more than what we're offering?
It's pretty clear the Swans recruitment team have sat down and said, "We want Tippett. We have some spare money so let's entice Kurt with that. However, we don't want to lose our premiership team we've created at the expense of getting Tippett, so let's make our maximum offer Pick 23 and a pick of any of our fringe players. If another club comes in and takes him with a greater offer than that, then so be it."

In all these heated discussions, I fail to realise why the Swans are coming under the pump. You guys should be most angry at Kurt for being so stubborn to only want to come to Sydney.
I'm as fed up with the Sydney fans as anyone else on this page, but this is an accurate assessment.

If the situation was reversed I would be furious if the Crows gave in and paid overs just because the other team wanted it or to be "fair". It really isn't Sydney's fault, blame the Muppett.

With that in mind, I don't think it is an acceptable trade and I reserve my right to whinge and moan about it as much as I want.

Is there anyway that as the crows/sydney dealings remain at a stalemate the crows can go to Brisbane and deal tippett and pick 20 for polec and pick 8 and tell them we will pay half tippets salary next year? this way tippet may end up getting more at Brisbane next year then what he was going to get at sydney, he moves closer to his REAL home and the crows get what he is actually worth. If the crows were offering him $800k a year then surely that means that they currently have a hole that big in the salary cap? cant imagine them getting a big fish in this trade week to fill that hole so them paying a chunk of his salary for one year wouldnt be such a bad thing if they actually got what he was worth out of this trade. If kurt was told that we cant get you to sydney but we can get you to Brisbane and you will be getting paid alot more than what sydney offered you next year surely that may change his mind? especially with his pea nut manager getting a bigger pay day.

Reality is the Swans sat down with Blucher, then offered bucket loads of money to $kurt and concocted some rubbish story about $ydney being home.

The AFL is investigating the $$$, wonder when we're gonna hear about the investigation into the insider trading.

Lamb would probably have currency but I believe he's yet another of the 'vital to our future and can't be traded' brigade.
Lamb suffered from a couple of hammies this year. Was only about 80% fit late in the year when Morton got a game. A lot of us who watch the 2's thought he might have been a chance. Lamb has a lot of upside but little trade value because of no game time.

So not much point in trading him.

Im sorry but how you act and trade is all part of it. If you want to be stingy and try and screw everyone over your going to get a bad name and teams wont want to trade with you. Also what goes around comes around. I can tell you 100% if the roles reverse anytime in the near future and a player coming out of contract at sydney wants to come to adelaide then the crows are more likely to act in the same way as sydney supposedly have and try and screw them over.

Yes Kurt has to shoulder most of the blame but if Sydney were to act in good faith and actively seek a 3rd party or a better player within their squad they would still gain more than what they are giving up through a positive reputation.

Did people not see Peter J's suggestion a few pages back? On the proviso that we can agree between ourselves (the Crows) and Brisbane on acceptable terms then there is an iron-clad way to get Tippett to Brisbane via either a trade or the PSD.

The Crows simply refuse to deal with Sydney (hey Kurt - two can play at that game) and say it's either Brisbane or PSD...if he says yes - deal done. If he says no then Brisbane pick him up before Sydney in the PSD (we could even pay the salary difference between what Brisbane had offered and what Sydney is offering).

We don't need Sydney or Kurt - all we need is cojones...
What happens if GWS take him in the draft. Plan falls over.

And rightly so.. Sydney make out like bandits. Adelaide slight losers (but you expect to receive unders for a player who is out of contract). Brisbane come out of it the biggest losers of all though.

Polec doesn't have the same value as Tippett, but it's close enough that a straight trade wouldn't be insulting. The problem is that Sydney have nothing to offer which is in the same ballpark as these two players.

Anyone thinking Triggy telling Sydney they would have to pay Whites contract next year if he came to us was a way of testing the waters to see if they could afford that plus Tippett for 2013. To maybe say to another club that hey if he goes to the PSD with white still at sydney his first year noninated salary cannot be that high.

Offer Polec a large amount of money, make him whinge that he wants to go home and Brisbane are in a similar situation to what Adelaide was with Gunston. Lessens their bargaining power.

Next year.. Gunston & Tippett are/were both out of contract. Polec is contracted for 2013 (and beyond?).

yes it's hypocritical and Crows fans who rejected that deal because it's pathetic shouldn't be suggesting Brisbane take it. It also shows how truly pathetic the deal is and how bad the many dickhead swans supporters on this board have been by trying to tell us pick 23 and white is overs! farkheads
I haven't seen a single Swans supporter suggest that White and 23 is overs, unless they were taking the piss.

It's under, but it's the reality of the situation. As some of your own posters have admitted, had the roles been reversed Adelaide fans would expect your club to do the same to us. It's important to keep that in mind.

So Polec is worth 6-12 but Brissy get 23,45,White? They would have to be on drugs to take that deal.
Probably the same drugs the Crows are on for accepting White + 23 for Tippett?

I'm really assessing that trade on the premise that Polec may want to come home next year. He will probably nominate the Crows so he can play in a decent side and with ol' mate Brodie Smith, at which point the Lions may get fleeced.

Not if Kurt decides he'd rather go to Brissy than GWS. In which he has a motive to play ball with us. The best position we can be in is if:-

1. Brissy can afford him via PSD
2. GWS can afford him via PSD
3. Kurt would prefer to go to Sydney, or failing that Brissy

Then:-
1. Sydney have risk they'll lose him via PSD and therefore might up their offer
2. Kurt has risk of ending up at GWS and therefore an incentive to work with us and Brissy on a deal if we say no to Sydney
3. GWS can try to outbid the others.

All this was done to death in this thread a week ago...

FAITH .....any word on GHS....if we could somehow come back with him it would ease the pain.

I think we all need to understand Brissy is no white knight, they are simply another scavenger looking to pick at the remains of this trade.

If Polec has requested a trade (pure speculation) then they may try and offload him now seeing how tippett has played out. But for now he is a contracted player and tippett is not. We are not going to get an even trade, its not going to happen. Maybe 20,23 , white would do it. Brissy may want us to package 20,23 to someone else for pick 10-15 which they might take.

Bottom line is we wont be getting any help from the market place. It will only be if someone sniffs some way of improving their position at our expense.
