But if you somehow decide not to nominate Viney. Can't see it as draft tampering to not do something.
Haha, that would be brilliant! A win for everyone!

I agree with this, if we get the Caddy pick it will be in the 10-15 range. I would also want a player with that but who knows? It could end up just being that pick.

It would be a good outcome but I don't think they will give up the No4 pick, especially if we nominate Viney, they would then have to pick him at 3 and then Caddy at 4. too much young talent for them to do this I think. But it would certainly get my vote if they were keen.
Melbourne also have the No13 pick, I think this is more likely what they will be offering for Caddy
What would happen if you guys didn't nominate him?
Would that allow Melb to take him with a later pick, instead of 3/4?
Could work for all involved?

Yes they could then use pick 13, assuming he got nominated before then, which he would.
I don't see why they couldn't do this to satisfy everyone.
Apparently GC compo picks are immune from F/S bidding, so if they're not forced to use pick #3 then they would only have to sacrifice their 2nd round pick for Viney. Effectively this would give them a top-10 player for a pick in the mid-20s.What would happen if you guys didn't nominate him?

No.. GC & GWS compo picks are apparently immune from F/S bidding. The only picks which are relevant to the bidding process are their normal 1st & 2nd round picks - #3 and #20-something.Yes they could then use pick 13, assuming he got nominated before then, which he would.

If either GWS or Suns nominate Viney with their 1st pick: Melbourne must use pick 3 to get him otherwise he goes to whichever of the 2 nominate him.
If either GWS or Suns don't nominate Viney with their 1st pick: Melbourne gets to use their second pick at ~ 26 to get him. Pick 4 and 13 cannot be used as they are compensation picks, not their actual draft picks.
Yes as long as GWS didn't either and I think they are set on Whitfield, then he would drop to Melbournes second round pick at 26, giving them 3,4 and 13 to pick up young guns and Viney at 26, can you say cough.....tank......cough
So this sounds like an option that we should be exploring pretty heavily, right?
We get Melbourne to trade of their first pick (#3 or #4, whichever is allowed) to us.
We trade Tippett to the GC.
GC trade Melbourne Caddy & Toy (or something else of value), and don't mess with Viney.
GC would be happy.
Melbourne would be happy.
Crows would be happy (provided part of the deal was Melbourne not taking Toumpas).
Seb's brother works for my company, I should really go have a chat with him... (I actually think I called him Seb at our recent offsite dinner)
So that explains itNot a glitch - Chief considers it a competing forum, so has added it to the swear filter.
Everyone except the other 15 clubs and the AFL. It would effectively mean everyone's picks would be shuffled back 1 as Pick 3 would not be being used for Viney but by us for Toumpas (ie. whoever are at No. 5 at the moment are getting the 4th best player excluding Viney and would suddenly be getting the 5th best one) Also would mean that GC and Melbourne would have to have an agreement to trade pick 3 for Caddy at the time of FS picking which would be draft tampering.
