Surely Joel can't have anything to do with the cal. If he was an enticement it was for a contract Tippett never signed and we never lodged. If we resigned Tippett then Joel's money (and probable drafting) would have to go into the contract. To we have to declare angus graham and Jessie whites flight seeing as we were enticing them to come join our footy club.

If we lose Tippett plus our first rounder I will be sick. That would essentially be like losing 3 first rounders in one year. Even Carlton were not hit that badly. We deserve to take our medicine, but a fine seems within reason to me. I think a lot of clubs would be watching this nervously. I know a number of boys for example that use to play for Geelong and I know for a fact that they got some side perks from the club that most definitely were not included in the salary cap. These included 'family' benefits such such as Jewellery and holidays. And to be frank, I don't actually think those small perks and 'looking after' a players family is an issue, particularly for players from interstate (for any club not just AFC).

I don't get why people are blaming Kurt for this. Sure he made this ridiculous demand during his last contract negotiation, but we ******* agreed to it!
The abuse you are going to get will start in 5.......4........3.............2.........one.

Normally I don’t blame players for leaving for a better deal because they are in the game only a short time, but he screwed us for going for an outrageous amount of money at a club that had just won the big dance and is not where everyone on the planet, including himself until Sydney approached him/his agent in August, that it would be in Qld.

We were going to get one from Sydney, but Andrew Ireland ruled out trading waterborne craft of any kind. He also refused to entertain notions of trading any type of children's flotation devices such as floaties, or even the piece of driftwood that Jack & Rose were hanging onto at the end of Titanic.
to be fair, the childrens floaties are need for kt.

One of the articles state we still want the trade to go ahead as is, why? Sydney get Kurt, we get 23 which might be taken away. They win, we lose, are we dumb? On second thought, no need to answer.
If we trade him to Sydney, they have to part with pick 23. If vlad takes pick 20 we are then left with 22. If we PSD him Sydney most likely get him they keep 23 we get our first pick taken from us.
I was all for the PSD for Tippett before all this other shit came out. Now we need to limit damage. Of course if we can trade to another shitter club that's even better. But I believe we need to trade now not PSD

you're kidding aren't you?

carlton lost their draft picks for 3 or 4 years because of their rorting. this isn't quite at the same level as that was, but expect some sort of heavy sanction from it.

We were hit worse than that.
  • Draft picks No. 1, 2, 31 and 34 from the 2002 National Draft
  • All draft picks in the 2003 Preseason Draft
  • Its first and second round draft picks in the 2003 National Draft
  • $930k fine.

I agree, Kurt is a massively selfish, lying K.Hunt.

But we still agreed to the clause in his last contract. That's 100% on us.

It is honestly geting worse by the hour, Trigg is going to bear the brunt of it considering others in high up positions Chapman, Smart, Harper and Noble have all denied having anything to do with the original 2009 contract, John Reid will be forever tainted for his last act of debauchery and if what's been written is true we probably deserve all of what we're going to get which Isn't going to be pretty.
Whoever authorized the contract - gone.

Whoever authorized the potential white/#23 trade; gone.

Trigg appears to have been less than truthful about why we were seeking White's first year to be paid...

I've never been on the anti-Trigg bandwagon; but, for the good of the Club, he has to fall on his sword - the sooner the better.

Realistically, Chapman should announce, TODAY, that Trigg has been stood down, pending a full investigation.

Get on the front foot, try and regain some integrity and minimize the harm.

What Carlton was sanctioned in 2002 would be the equivalent of what we are sanctioned this year should we lose Tippett and our first rounder. In 2003 they lost their 1st and 2nd round but were still able to pick up Walker with a PP from the AFL. So they got that first round pick back in 2003. We should not be penalised anything near what Carlton got done and as it stands we very well might be.

No the club isn't able to do that.

It's the same as how Scully's dad's money has to go to GWS' cap. Those types of deals with family members have been outlawed for years otherwise your would see clubs offering players wives or family members token jobs for hundreds of thousands of dollars to get around the salary cap.

I don't think the 'agreement' was of our doing. Sounds very much like it was a gun to the head type of 'agreement'. In retrospect we should have told them to go jump. At the time it probably didn't seem that big a deal.

It really depends on the conversation doesn't it. If at the time we told Kurt we would help to get him back to Gold Coast if he was still home sick and now he is trying to twist that to get the extra dollars from Sydney then he is very much the villain here. This could very easily have started with us just trying to do the right thing by one of our players.

I can't believe they come down like a tonne of bricks on Bernie Vince for harmless fun because it is bad for the club's image. What the hell does gross negligence do to the image of the club? If Trigg doesn't walk ........

There's a significant issue over one player. That nobody can deny. And look, this may well be the catalyst that lead to our disastrous 2010/11 campaigns. Did other players find out about this back door deal? I wonder if Craig knew - he was a squeaky clean character that one, he would have hated it I'm guessing. He lost the plot, didn't he in those years? I know some of you contend it was earlier than that, but was it? I will wait to hear the full outcome of the investigation before I condemn anyone. But it certainly doesn't look good.
Damn it, I knew there was some way that Craig was the victim in all of this.

A) I didn't mock anybody.
B) I don't give a damn what you think of me.
C) Pull your head in or your return to the Adelaide Board will be considerably shorter than you planned. Your smug arrogance act has worn thin, to the point where it will no longer be tolerated.

This is your first, last and only warning.
anyone else read that in a darth vader voice?

I'm not getting alot of this.

Tippett and his mangers company need to be the one made an example of, if they instigated this "agreement". IMO. If Sydney have tried to benifite from this knowing it existed, then they deserve to have the book thrown at them.

Somewhere under all of that is where we sit and what we deserve, we are the lesser of all the evils here.
