If he came out and said he's leaving and Gold Coast is his desired destination and these other clubs weren't involved, THEN I would say it's simply to go home..

After the Angwin fiasco the inner sanctum at West Lakes developed a range of recruiting filters that are like the Sydney "no dickheads" rule on steroids. It also fits well with the philosophical views of the Board.

What do Davis, Gunston and Tippett all have in common? The good news is that the demographic that we have targeted do not get caught being drunk and disorderly. The downside is that "club loyalty" is a foreign concept. We need more Tex Walkers and fewer Jack Gunstons. Some people at West Lakes feel that Davis, Gunston and Tippett have been singing from the same song sheet. This is the reason that they were convinced that the leaks from Gold Coast were on the money.

You can expect some changes in recruiting philosophy and this has nothing to do with losing Matt Rendell.

Correct it was before the other team became involved.

Sounds like he is pricing himself out of our market, then again in 5 years he could retire to the GC if the other offers are correct.

He could have taken our 5 year 800k a year deal, finished his career and then retired to the GC to spend the next 40-50 years of his life on the beach on the GC. In doing so he could have shown loyalty and respect to his club and his teammates, enjoyed team success and still spent 70+ years of his life on his precious Gold Coast. Instead he's chosen to look like a complete mercenary and treated the club and his teammates with complete disdain. He is the complete opposite of a team man - can't in a million years see how he would fit into the Swans "No dickheads, team first, buy into our culture or piss off" mantra.

Now, depending which club he's traded to, this is what I want:


Gold coast: pick 2 or Gorringe + Pick 25 for pick 40
GWS: John Giles or their second round pick + a first round upgrade
Carlton: Bryce Gibbs or GTFO
Sydney: 2012 premiership cup and all their picks or the next ten years.

Heard this also and just shook my head.

There is a significant cultural change that needs to occur in our sport around player loyalty and free agency. Lots of changes ahead in the next few years I reckon. No one gets this angsty (and I include myself in that) when talking NBA or other sports where player movements are an established necessity.

I also get the impression there are still some cultural issues at the club in some way. Not exactly sure what they are but so many folks leaving in such a small period of time is NOT a good outcome.

Care to share what your thoughts are AFGM. I'm backing you in as being connected and you're droppings hints - out with it man.

If he doesn't want to play for the Crows, then he can go. That said I'll be pretty annoyed if he goes anywhere other than QLD. All the talk has been about how he wants to go home, if he doesn't go there now he will lose a lot of respect, from me a least.

I guess the positive to come out of this is that there are so many clubs after his services, hopefully they'll start a bidding war. God knows Carlton and Sydney could both do with a big key forward like Kurt, hopefully they'll both be willing to pay overs for him.

Not sure if I am alone here but I would be dead set keen to see Walker and Fev, he would be free, he would allow us a few years while we groom Jenkins/Johnstone properly..He would be a potent mix with Tex... Wouldn't really feel like we lose too much with Tippett either as a big strong marking body would come in.. It will never happen but I can dream..
