CMON Brisbane make Kurt an offer he cant refuse....
Then give us redden or polec :thumbsu:
As with Sydney .....Polec :thumbsu: and second round

They should have done the deal last year when there were less interested parties ....the more i think about this the better i think we'll come out with a good deal

Suspect GC will our worse option

If it's Sydney, then Grundy and 22 is a waste of time. We need quality not quantity. Don't bother offering us draft busts (Lamb) either.

Hannebery or Jetta please. Your choice.
I can absolutely guarantee you none of those 2 would have a hope in hell of leaving Sydney.

I agree Grundy ....no thanks

I thought it was established that AFC are not in the drivers seat with demands?

Tippett can go to PSD if everyone butts heads for the next 3 weeks or so...

Which would mean none of the Clubs desperate to get him, would get him - so we finally have some leverage.

I'd let him go to the PSD rather than take #22 and Grundy.

Need a pick in the top 10, and another player or pick in the 10-20 range; or a top 5 pick.

If the best you'll hypothetically get from Sydney is Grundy and 22, why wouldn't the Lions just offer Polec and 23 (rather than giving away 8)

I hope we offer up pick 8 alone, and if Adelaide don't want it, then let them deal with GC and/or Sydney.
You know i reckon that would get the deal done :thumbsu:

Jetta especially is crucial to the way the Swans play and our game style. Without him we are a lot less dangerous.
Plus the most importnat thing to Sydney has always been public support in the Sydney market .....get rid of your premiership heroes and all hell would break loose .....it would be akin to not making the finals

How about Tippett + Douglas + #19 for Polec + #8 + #~30?

They need outside run and carry and experienced heads with Brown and Black fading. He may not be a star but Douglas is first 18 in a top four side. And is Polec (all potential) a better option for them than a proven B-grader who will play the role they require?

We would then have Polec developing for our outside run, and possibly Mayes or Stringer in this role too. Then maybe an Amato or Wilkins at ~30.

I think we can get by with our current talls forward and back. My faith in LT and McKernan is integral to that.

The impression I get is that he genuinely wants to go home.. but isn't happy with the salary currently being offered by GC. If Sydney are prepared to offer $1M per season and GC are only offering $600k, then that's a significant difference. In the short term, he's trying to wedge GC into increasing their offer. Failing that, I think he's probably facing a genuinely difficult decision. Assuming both are willing to offer him a 5-year contract then we're talking a difference of $2M over the course of the contract. That's a lot of reasons to be signing with Sydney, despite his original intentions of going home.

I think you're on the money here Vader.

At the moment IMO Tippett is a player without a club with things not falling automatically into place as he thought they would.

I really believe he wants to go home, but he wants either of the Brisbane based clubs to match the very best money that any other team in the comp will offer - and that's not happening at the moment.

Deep down I don't think he really wants to go to Sydney or Carlton, but the conflict is that these are the only teams that might offer the sort of money he thought he would get.

That's why I think he hasn't committed to a club yet.

His real team of choice would be Gold Coast, with Brisbane as a back-up, and I don't believe that we will get Tippett to nominate his club of choice until his Manager has exhausted every attempt to wheedle Sydney type money or very close to that out of either of GC or Brisbane.

The classic case of a greedy man who wants to have his cake and eat it too.

The catch 22 for Tippett comes if the whole thing goes pear-shaped and GC or Brisbane don't increase their offers. Then he will be conflicted - does he nominate GC or Brisbane where he would really rather be at a significant cost to him, or does he accept the highest offer and play where he really never intended to be and probably doesn't want to be in the first place.

If that does eventuate, not that he would ever admit it, I wouldn't mind betting that he wished he'd never shafted Adelaide.

The problem wth this of course is that Tippett's greed impacts on Adelaide who can't even start negotiating trades as they don't know who to negotiate with. That will also hinder any other trades we had in mind with this matter not able to be finalised.

Tippett's procrastination is a pain in the arse in all respects and could prove costly to Adelaide in the trade period.

TTT

Tippett ... Traitor ......Turd!!
