So much hype over this guy. Seriously, you would think we were talking about some kind of Franklin/Carey/Dunstall/Lockett/Ablett Sr superhuman rolled into one.

But it's Kurt Tippett. Good player? Yes, maybe even very good. But elite? Not quite.

I think this is right. And it is his job after all to get the best deal he can for his client (means more$$$$ for him).
I think the problem here is that the agent interprets his job as getting the best financial deal for his client but in so doing trashes his reputation...he should be getting the best 'outcome' for his client which takes account of all factors - financial, lifestyle, reputational, etc. Problem is Blucher only gets a cut of the $$ and not the other benefits...

I don't see where the Swans' motivation would be to trade their best player
I don't either but if you offer Kurt Tippett in-excess of $1,000,000 a year and he's still unsigned - You'd hope he doesn't get pissed off by not getting at least a similar amount.

However, what sort of commodity do you have to satisfies the Crows in the trade?

I know this is big footy and all and the logic behind trade is ****** up but you just can not get a gun key forward for sweet **** all. You will have to give up something decent to gain something as well, and since he is unsigned (or allegedly) he would give you enough bargaining power.

It's OK to not trade Kennedy but don't expect the Crows to be happy with pick 22 or something insulting like that.

Yes. Sydney will definitely trade its best clearance player who average high20's to 30 possessions and kicks at least a goal a game :/
So how are you going to satisfy the Crows in the trade?

To offer such a large contract, your management must want Tippett - so a trade is needed.

Please don't miss the part where I was using the assumption he was out of contract. Not that he was an unwanted commodity.

Just because Brisbane rate him highly, doesn't mean they won't use their position of power to get the best deal for the club, especially if he decides Brisbane. They will know Tippett's leaving regardless, therefore Adelaide would ideally want a deal to be done instead of leaving him to go PSD. Are Adelaide going to get a better deal than pick 8? It's what Brisbane was prepared to offer him this year, and with his concussions, is his value really greater than it was last year? Brisbane got pick 12 for Clark, and he kicked a similar amount of goals in 2011 to Tippett this year, playing a similar number of games. We said no to two of Polec/Redden/pick 8 last year, and I don't see how that's changed this year, except Tippett is now out of contract and has concussion issues.

EDIT: FWIW I still think Tippett will end up at GC, and this is all his manager's work to get GC's offer up. GC know he wants to go there, so are likely offering him the worse deal of all teams,

Yeah, probably only $600,000 a year, poor bastard how is anyone expected to live on that. GC cheap skates :D

inside source says its sydney 90%.
If he nominates today its sydney, if he nominates on sunday its more likely Brisbane..
I know he is a selfish campaigner but why would he make the announcement today with the Swans having their parade?

Why wouldn't they hold off until tomorrow or even yesterday to allow the club to gain maximum national exposure.

Crystal clear that its a money and lifestyle issue. Advice must be lock in as big a contract and length as possible as you are potentially 1 knock away from it all being over. I get the feeling he doesn't have a plan of life after football either - university or business opportunities? Bit of a far fetched conclusion perhaps though...

Will be a bit bummed if Suns cant snare him, but life goes on. Glad our staff seem to have their head screwed on to an extent in not offering overs, if 650k is the contract, that is probably quite reasonably considering his history

I wonder whether we'd offer to cover part of Kurt's contract so that Brisbane could increase their offer, if they were, as is likely, to offer more on the trade table.

Firstly swans have yet to release size or length of contract so this 1 mil is speculation and if it is a mil heavily front loaded no doubt.

A trade is needed but if we trade to weaken our club with the outs it is pointless and we would probably pass if it came down to losing Kennedy.

FWIW we aren't sure if he's out of contract this year or next year. I'd say next year seeing as the media haven't jumped all over this

Either Sydney or Brisbane works well for us - it removes the PSD possibility if that club is serious about wanting Kurt, so they have to trade with us, but they can't risk offering us peanuts because they know GC will be lurking to snap him up if the deal doesn't get done.
