This is just too funny. Make it happen Sheeds

It is rather amusing... Both playing 4 the $$$$... one decides it's no longer worth it and returns to his own game, leaving the door wide open 4 his counterpart.... GIANTS of a feather!

not really. the analogy is that they have both potentially broken the rules that they are charged with administering. your analogy misses a key point. it is a matter of public record that trigg offerred his resignation to chapman. so to correct your sloppy effort. the policeman walks into the commissioners office and says have you seen the papers today, unfortunately they are pretty close to the mark, here is my resignation letter. the commissioner says, forget about it, go back to your office there's contracts to get sorted, we're still in the middle of trade week, business as usual.

Lunacy

If you want to debate a point htenthats fine, but I suggest you leave personal insults out of it. Your response to Fairfooty was appalling.

So Im sloppy? Ok better tighten up a bit I suppose.

The reason your first analogy does not fit is because when a person is charged by Police they usually have evidence to support the charge which they provide to you with the charge. They are a statutory, regulated body who must act within the powers given. They have to satisy the reasonable prospect of success test when prosecuting anything and so, in your case there would be acutal evidence on which a boss could make an informed decision as to whether he should be suspended.

Do not assert that this is the same as a journalist writing a story on the basis of information from source. Its not in the same universe. As for your key point...do you know exactly why Trigg offered his resignation/ Do you know what was said? I suspect not. For all you know Trigg may have offered it because he was stressed and thought it was in the best interests of the club. The club was right, IMO, to say there have not even been any formal allegations and so its not appropriate for you to resign now.

Let me put this to you.

In grand final week (AFC are in the GF) Caro drops a story that, relying on a source, she is aware that Taylor Walker is somehow involved in a betting scandal. It goes viral of course and Tex comes in and says Triggy if it saves the club embarassment I wont play Saturday/or I will resign from the club.

What would the club do? My guess is the club would say Tex dont be stupid your playing Saturday, we will wait for the AFL investigation and deal with the findings and any allegations once they have been made. I would also guess that the supporters would be pretty happy with that...except you of course.

Tip$ must be seriously shitting himself now with Folau walking out leaving GWS with holes in forward line, ruck and TPP!

GWS CEO just on the radio.

Didnt give too much away other than;

They have been in talks since Tippett left us, but obviously now those talks will take a difference tack ie. in trade period he didnt have to speak to us but now he does

They are aware Tippett wants to be in Sydney as he has family here so GWS can help him with that ie your out of excuses Kurt...choke on your own BS

He also said that if he fills a need, he's available, we can afford it...we will take him:thumbsu:

Have stopped reading, take it outside.

Last time I checked this forum was not restricted to posting that only entertains you. This thread is almost 750 pages long with all manner of squabbles and arguments, some relevant, some not. If you dont like it then fine move along. Dont tell me what I can and cant post or who and what I can respond to.

One year of pain, lots of years of gain.

I predict by the 2014 season - GWS will be a genuine powerhouse side in the AFL and we will still only just be around the mark as we will have lost another good player or 2.

I don't get why so many of you are getting so cockahoot about Kurt Tippett going to GWS over the swans. We still miss out on everything and he still ends up with a big fat million dollar contract and in Sydney and only 1 or 2 years away from being a powerhouse side.

Alex I agree with you that GWS wont be easybeats for too much longer, tey seem to be better equipped to develop more quickly than GCS. If I were trying to convince Tippett I would be saying 1. You get the same money 2. Sydney are ageing 3. There is a chance for you to be in a really exciting period of growth witha whole team of first rounders!!! My guess is they will be pushing for finals by 2015 at the latest.

I think everyone is excited by him simply not getting to Sydney....anywhere else will do ;)

i really don't understand why you keep referring to this 'trial by media' rubbish. i couldn't care less what the media reports about this. there are a few things that i know to be fact.

we were about to lodge the trade papers but found out that they wouldn't have approved the trade.
trigg flew in from overseas because the issue needed the ceo to be present.
trigg has confirmed that a form of agreement outside of the official afl lodged contract was in place and it was in writing.
trigg made an attempt to rescind the agreement.
trigg offerred his resignation to the board.
there is an afl investigation into this agreement and our club.

the difference between the burden of proof in civil proceedings and criminal proceedings is not relevant to this discussion. what you and fairfooty have failed to comprehend is that there are 2 matters that arise from that police officer committing those offences. one is the criminal issue that results in fines/jail terms etc. the second is what impact it has on his relationship with his employer and his ability to continue in the same capacity. that is the analogy.

you are both arguing as if i am saying that i want him sacked. all i have said that, in my opinion, it would have been appropriate to have suspended trigg while the investigation is taking place. the board came to a different decisioin, fair enough, that's their perogative. but you and fairfooty are arguing about burdens of proof, media reporting and other rubbish that doesn't change the simple fact that the board CHOSE not to suspend him or accept his resignation. unlike you and fairfooty, i don't have to agree with the afc boards decision. the stupid thing about this pathetic little argument is that had the board either accepted his resignation or suspended him during the investigation, you would be supporting that decision and defending it against those that disagree.

and as for fairfooty and my 'personal insults', all i can say is that he started it and i don't mind dropping to the same level to make myself feel better.

Pretty sure he does. As seen by his absolute, deadset NO, about speaking to them during trade week.

Yeah and now things have changed. Yes he wanted to play for the Swans, yes he said a resounding no to the GWS during the trade period but now it looks like he will be going to the GWS - he's not going to have a sook and just quit.

He will get on with it and play for the GWS. Get his million dollar pay day and play in Sydney.

If you honestly believe he is sitting in his bedroom sulking over not getting to the swans, like some posters on here hope for - gain a reality check and think again.

Brogan already signed for at least one more year three days ago.
Brogan is on minimal $'s as also coaching.

AFL would have always been keen to get Tippett to GWS, which is some justice, given the circumstances & will shut up the arrogant Swans supporters who thought they could get him for buggar all.

The ironey is if this illegal contract did not exist, Tippett would have probably got the club he wanted (as AFC has a history of doing the right thing) & AFC would have recieved some decent compensation. Both are losers from this stupid agreements - before penalties are handed out.

You're a glass half empty kind of guy I take it?

1) Players will leave the Crows, but players will leave GWS and GC to come home when the money dries up.
2) Your prediction of 2014 being a powerhouse year for GWS is overly optimistic, at best.
3) If Kurnt gets that kind of coin, the pressure on him to perform will be immense. Mentally, he is not up to the task. It is well noted that he hates public scrutiny.
4) If Kurnt gets that kind of coin, the vitriol (both physical and verbal) spewed toward him by other players will be so immense that he better wear a safety helmet. Ablett jnr he 'aint. The man is an over rated hack.
5) If our club is anything to go buy, Kurnt, Blucher and his father are all total Kurnts who's greed and selfishness are a disruptive influence on those around them. We get little tangible reward, but Kurnt doesn't get his own way and we get rid of him, that is a BIG bonus.
