imagine if we could have traded with GWS

Can you please wake up and smell the roses.

Every recruiter in the AFL knew about the deal and whom ever we were trying to do a deal with, we were only ever going to get a 2nd round deal.

It would have ended up the same way, whatever club he chose.

What Kurt needed to do was say to the clubs - no deal was ever in place but somehow, I suspect his manager would not have let that happen.

If he went to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, GWS or even a WA club - we were going to receive under do the agreement put ion place.

Yeah and now things have changed. Yes he wanted to play for the Swans, yes he said a resounding no to the GWS during the trade period but now it looks like he will be going to the GWS - he's not going to have a sook and just quit.

He will get on with it and play for the GWS. Get his million dollar pay day and play in Sydney.

If you honestly believe he is sitting in his bedroom sulking over not getting to the swans, like some posters on here hope for - gain a reality check and think again.

No I don't think he's sulking over it. It's funny because here's what he said
Watching the AFL Grand Final last Saturday, listening to the commentary and talking to various people over time, it is obvious the Swans have a very special culture, in addition to a very good team.
I look forward to being part of it, and playing a role in a team that can be in the premiership mix next year and beyond.

He wanted his cake and to eat it too. Premiership AND money (and culture ) He won't be getting the former for at least 4 years. Whilst GWS' list is going to be scary good, look at what a losing culture does to clubs. That, and they're just a team of kids, who will take time to develop. There was obviously a reason as to why he said no to GWS in trade week, and while circumstances have changed, I highly doubt his preference or reasons for saying no have.

You're a glass half empty kind of guy I take it?

1) Players will leave the Crows, but players will leave GWS and GC to come home when the money dries up.
2) Your prediction of 2014 being a powerhouse year for GWS is overly optimistic, at best.
3) If Kurnt gets that kind of coin, the pressure on him to perform will be immense. Mentally, he is not up to the task. It is well noted that he hates public scrutiny.
4) If Kurnt gets that kind of coin, the vitriol (both physical and verbal) spewed toward him by other players will be so immense that he better wear a safety helmet. Ablett jnr he 'aint. The man is an over rated hack.
5) If our club is anything to go buy, Kurnt, Blucher and his father are all total Kurnts who's greed and selfishness are a disruptive influence on those around them. We get little tangible reward, but Kurnt doesn't get his own way and we get rid of him, that is a BIG bonus.

So what - what does that have to do with people gloating about the fact he will end up at GWS?

My point is, as soon as the club is decided where he will place - he will just accept it and the list of things you said, will happen even if he was at Sydney. So what's your point?

Alex - no deal was ever going to be done based on that agreement because the AFL would never have approved it (even if someone hadn't blown the whistle)

You're missing my point.

People are making posts that he is sulking about not getting to the Swans - But I'm saying, he won't be. He won't actually care where he plays. and for the post above, he was only ever trying to justify his move.

Exactly- so why are we wishing we traded with the GWS?

if was never going to happen.

He will be under less scrutiny at GWS because they have about 2,000 fans. The press won't care and no-one will recognise him in the street. He WILL have to drive further to get to training

Don't these things become postives for him?

Isn't the argument about him going to GWS supposed to be a negative?

It looks like things will work out well for him and we will still end up with nothing.

If you mean properly but not having any such clause then yes.

actually I meant putting it to KT that we could do it the easy way or the hard way - he has ended up choosing the hard way (and he could still end up with a suspension or at another club)

Why? He won't get what he wants, that's why.

What does he want? Money and the short track to glory...he is not prepared to wait for it, which is why he wanted to go to the Swans instead of the GC and Brisbane who were all prepared to pay him a lot.

At GWS he will have to wait many, many years for any form of glory. He will be the highest paid payer so the blame for the lack of glory will be on his shoulders and the pressure will get to him....Might I also add, at 26 next year, the clock is ticking...do you see him sticking around at GWs until he is 30?

Ok, fair enough, I get your point. You are right, as of now he probably doesn't care where he plays, as long as he actually plays (and doesn't get deregistered). But can you see the flip side? He obviously did care where he played, otherwise he wouldn't have chosen the Swans and refused to speak to GWS. And now that he has to most likely play for them, possibly on less coin as I can't see him being able to nominate a salary if he isn't deregistered, he has to be punished somehow. Isn't it just a little moral win?

That would only work if Sydney were willing to come to the party and up their anti as pick 22 and White was always going to gain the attention of the AFL.

and we still don't actually know if GWS, Brisbane or GC were willing to offer anything of value either.

Cornesy & Rowey just said on air that 3AW have announced Tippett has been offered a reduced penalty if he agrees to play for GWS.

If true, what is the difference between this and the agreement Sydney tried to gain advantage over Adelaide with? I really hope this is just Vic rumour.

How do you know?>

He went to the Swans for money, he went them for one reason and one reason only - they were the highest bidder and he agreed to join them before they won the Grand Final.

One year of pain, lots of years of gain.

I predict by the 2014 season - GWS will be a genuine powerhouse side in the AFL and we will still only just be around the mark as we will have lost another good player or 2.

I don't get why so many of you are getting so cockahoot about Kurt Tippett going to GWS over the swans. We still miss out on everything and he still ends up with a big fat million dollar contract and in Sydney and only 1 or 2 years away from being a powerhouse side.

My logic is this:

1. He's going to be playing somewhere.
2. Sydney was $kurt's preference.
3. Gold Coast is his real home and would have been his preference if it wasn't for the $$$.
4. GWS are going to suck for at least a couple more years.

So $kurt going to GWS puts him at a team he doesn't want to be at, away from Mummy and Daddy and getting thumped week in, week out for a couple of years.

At this point that is about as good as we can get.

Cannot be correct! Someone is taking the piss!

That has to be bullshit, that kind of deal would leave the AFL and Dimwitrou with absolutelely zero credibility, the word "corrupt" would not look out of place even.

Yeah, can't see that being true. The only possible way that could be true is if Vlad spoke to $kurt or the Butcher and 'alluded' to his situation being given 'proper' consideration if he listed an 'acceptable' salary in the draft (i.e. one that wasn't too high, so GWS could easily afford it). Of course that would then still require $kurt or the Butcher to leak that info to the media.

Given what has just happened, Vlad would really be playing with fire trying to pull a swifty like that.
