A trade is needed but if we trade to weaken our club with the outs it is pointless and we would probably pass if it came down to losing Kennedy.

If it's not Kennedy and I only suggested Kennedy because of the assumption he was out of contract who would you suggest would be a fair and equatable trade between the two parties?

If this is true, I think we should be looking at including a 3rd Victorian club and (western Bulldogs or Melbourne) still going for a top 5 draft pick for Tippett.

Kennedy is a great player but I don't see a need for him in our midfield. I think we can fill some of our more major needs by using a high draft pick.

Kennedy >>>> Western Bulldogs

Pick 5 >>>>>>> Adelaide

Tippett >>>>>>> Sydney.

IMO - that would suit everyone needs.

If Kennedy is not happy with his offer, given his worth to the team, then sees a pretentious git like Kurt come in on near 1 mil a season he may get pissed off enough to leave, premiership or not. Then Sydney would have to accept a similar deal to what they expect us to take for our star player. Can't see this happening though with their track record of keeping players happy.
Bringing in a star to any team can be divisive, especially when it is so poorly handled by the player and his manager as this has been.

Either Sydney or Brisbane works well for us - it removes the PSD possibility if that club is serious about wanting Kurt, so they have to trade with us, but they can't risk offering us peanuts because they know GC will be lurking to snap him up if the deal doesn't get done.
Any trade that strengthens Sydney is not a good deal for us. They have to pay overs to get him, theyve put the value on his head by paying a $1M for him, that is obscene money. **** them and Kurt.

Parker, Rohan and 22.

Creative! Unpopular as hell but creative.

Hey, we've got to go after what is best for our footy club and try to get the best deal possible. Personally I just can't see how that could be Sydney and hence we've got to look at convincing Kurt to take an offer at a more attractive option for us, and apparently money talks with Kurt. Besides, we've got a fair whack of salary cap that we may struggle to utilise now that Kurt has left.

Bob,
why not just drop melbourne out of it? Convince Roughead to go to Adelaide.
cheers
Bob 130

Not a bad idea and to be honest, would at least be a equal match for Kurt.

Roughead goal kicking would be superior to Kurt Tippett but he rucking wouldn't be as good.

That's less than our offer .....gee you must have been confident of the go home factor
The impression I have always had from our club is that if he wants to come home we would try to accomodate him, but not at the risk of losing our ability to retain our current crop of youngsters. Clayton, Bluey and Ashcroft have all been stong on this point.

I think it is the right course of action for us plus don't we all want players that WANT to play for the club rather than who offers them a few more gold coins to add to their already bulging sack of cash. Look a Dangerfield, he had attractive offers but wants to be a Crow and you guys love him for it. Thats what I want from our players.

This is pretty much the problem with the whole tippett scenario. We don't have a pick or player who is expendable to meet the tippett demands. I'd see tippett's worth as around pick 10 which is where swans have an issue. It'd definitely be pick 22 plus player. Player in question is a mystery to me though.

no really, why come in here are ruin it?

if you want talk crap about trading, please go to the Carlton board

Sorry it was a gentle piss take

We don't have anything to offer we can't afford to give up the players we have
Maybe maybe we can trade a backmen but that's about it.

Obviously sydney aren't going to make a good first offer we are in the position of power in this trade, we will be stingy as all hell and the negotiation will drag out.

If we offered up Parker and a backmen straight off the bat that's where the trade negotiation begins your mob won't just say oh that's a fair trade deal done.

As much as we don't want to give anyone up your footy department will want overs it's how trading works you both make under's and over's then meet in the middle.

By putting up Parker first it shows where willing to be serious at the trade table without weakening the team.

I wonder what that does to Parker....

It will be an interesting position, but I'll say it again, we are not taking Armstrong back :D

Just a question, has anyone else seen a source other than Brisbane and gc list management etc that has said swans are interested?

Horse was asked, but didn't confirm or deny.

Kerr however said that he's known that the Swans have been interested for a while.

If it's Sydney then pick 22 (or Luke Parker) plus Alex Johnston (Johnson?) which gives us the key defender that we need. Johnston and Talia would be a good KPD combo for ten years.
Sydney won't like it but you have to give quality to get quality.

He's worth more than pick 10 to start off with and I believe your club would know this and would have a strategy on how to gain this pick or player to gain Tippett.

He is a key position forward who was ranked 3rd for contested marks. He too 50 contested marks in 21 games, if you add his alleged salary (something your club would have offered mind you - not his asking price) is also enough evidence to suggest he is worth more than pick 10.

I'm thinking pick 4 to 6 is around the mark and a point where Sydney should be aiming at.

I'm not sure Alex Johnson is really a KPD. Seems more of a Shaw / Otten type. Great prospect though but I can't see Sydney wanting to let him go.
