Not sure if you're aware, but there's a chance you'll need to trade for Kurt Tippett to come to your club... Usually works like that.

Haha, such a simple response like that was all that was needed... I think Sydney beleive that a player nominates a club they want to play for and then you shout the other team lunch for that player.

Why would we trade Rohan?
Because you have to trade some-one of value as no decent draft picks to offer to get a player you are offering $1 mill or close to be your highest paid player .
Must be of major importance to you going forward and sorry Father Christmas is not real .
So get it in your heads you will lose a important player if get Tippett.

My views on this one are probably rare and will be rubbished but anyway....... I believe the extra cap space in Syd needs to remain. The competition needs a strong Sydney side. If the AFL can break their Sydney Hoodoo and take market share off the NRL this will create an extremely healthy and unstoppable competition. Other clubs will benefit from higher tv deals, handouts etc.
Sydney have come out this year and said they have never used the extra space they have been given. They have only used the exact space allocated to other clubs as well. On top of this if they do need to reach into the extra cap to pay for Kurt it will be for only a very limited time. They will probably have Bolton retire now, Goodes by the end of next year and O'Keefe close after that. That frees up a lot of space there and leaves a huge talent hole as well. Grabbing Tippett keeps them at least competitive when these guys go while young talent is developed.
You also have the issue of local talent. I'd like to know how many NSW players played in that GF side....... I doubt it was many. Until they can develop enough local talent to make it easier to keep players in Syd the cap should remain. It all stems back to success and kids wanting to play AFL over NRL and soccer.

In a broader sense in terms of the success of our competition, you are spot on. Personally I don't have too much of a problem with the NSW and QLD clubs being given a little extra cap space.

Former Brisbane Lions forward Scott Clouston is again on clubs radar, with Adelaide very interested in securing his services in replacement for Kurt Tippett.

In his last game for the Brisbane Lions, he took 11 marks and kicked 1 goal, before injury cut his career short at the Brisbane Lions and he was eventually delisted.

He has spent the last 3 years playing for Redland in the NEAFL and finished with 55 goals for the year.

Just a bit more info:
Kurts manager has told AFC that they were happy with the financial package offered.
The reason why Kurt wants to go to Sydney or Queensland is that he was sick of all the media attention and wants to play somewhere where he gets little media/public attention. The final straw was the way he was treated by the media/public over his concussion issues.
He also believes NSW/Queensland lifestyle is more to his liking.

*Wonder how kurt will fit into the Sydney culture of team over individuals.
Should be interesting.

If that's true. Gee he really does have a pea for a heart!

Need to get this cancer that is Tippet out of the club ASAP. Sick of hearing his BS.

Sad thing is, it might not be the last time something happens like this within the AFL. The me, me, me Generation are slowly showing their hands!

Or, like, possibly...we won't get Tippett. No point trading away our future.

The impression I have always had from our club is that if he wants to come home we would try to accomodate him, but not at the risk of losing our ability to retain our current crop of youngsters. Clayton, Bluey and Ashcroft have all been stong on this point.

I think it is the right course of action for us plus don't we all want players that WANT to play for the club rather than who offers them a few more gold coins to add to their already bulging sack of cash. Look a Dangerfield, he had attractive offers but wants to be a Crow and you guys love him for it. Thats what I want from our players.
This is what i don't understand ......you don't actually need Tippett, and if anything he'll slow down some players development and WILL result in the club losing 1-2 players for improved opportunities

It's not as if your flag window is 2013 .......it's at least 3-4 years away, so Iam not clear on the strategy behing pitching for Tippett at all ....if unless as you say he's a cheap/easy get

Wouldn't say that just yet. Tippett and Gunston have one thing in common....... they come from very well to do families. I think that says more than about the situation than anything.

Sorry it was a gentle piss take

We don't have anything to offer we can't afford to give up the players we have
Maybe maybe we can trade a backmen but that's about it.

Obviously sydney aren't going to make a good first offer we are in the position of power in this trade, we will be stingy as all hell and the negotiation will drag out.

.
 your kidding aren't you .......last pick in the draft, at least 3 other clubs that have picks before you with the money that'll gladly take Tippett before your pick.

Sydney stingy trading ......mate the words are just flowing without any thought.......Sydney have a great reputation as fair traders and negotiators ...FACT!

Got to love posters without a foot in reality.

anyone can talk tough on the internet.

So pick 6 and 2 premiership players under the age of 22?
Just because Parker was the sub in the Gf doesn't make him elite. Rohan is coming back from a broken leg. You guys offering one of these players plus pick 22 (really a pick of little value) for Tippett is an insult. Similar to us saying we'll give you Johncock and pick 22 for Kennedy. Fair is it?

Parker turns 20 in 3 weeks, Johncock turns 30 in 3 weeks, they are hardly comparable. Kennedy isn't really a good comparison to Tippett, fortunately he also hasn't walked out on the club demanding a trade to Adelaide.

I still think Gold Coast need Tippett the most.

1. They need to start getting people to games on a regular basis which means winning games. Another season like the last two and suddenly they are dealing with serious financial pressures.
2. He is a local kid with huge marketing pull good for game development, third party deals.
3. They have the most currency to trade with Gorringe, Day. These players would surely be open to returning home to play in a premiership tilt and at a new Adelaide oval. Furthermore, imagine if they kept Day and Gorringe whilst bringing Tippett in they have to deal with the go home factor of 2 kids out of contract that want opportunities after dominating the QAFL.

It has to be a Suns trade.

Some of us see it that way and some don't, there is a belief that he would provide us with the ability to have Lynch and Day develop without the No1 defender on them. $700,000 is a high price to pay for that in my opinion.

So pick 6 and 2 premiership players under the age of 22?
no that's rubbish on our behalf .....but it has to be a very good player (that you don't want to lose) and pick 22

Reason; Ruckmen/forwards are GOLD compared to midfielders ......and Tippett is up there with Cloke

Dead sure Freo are waiting in the wings .....if they feel Tippett is just chasing money with no regard for club .....look at them swoop

I thought there was zero tolerance to clowns like this.
