If we are going to judge a guy on his stats I dare someone to compare him to Scott Welsh.

Whether he'll make it or not is a different debate. I have my doubts about his mental fragility, not his talent. Could go either way at this stage.Granted McKernan has not proven much of anything yet but at 22 he's two years younger than Hawkins, who looked about as bad 2 years ago. Bock was another who looked shithouse until he'd played 50 games.
Its still too early to say one way or another if he'll make it.
So you say he has talent and he could possibly make it. But he can't be a big power forward?Whether he'll make it or not is a different debate. I have my doubts about his mental fragility, not his talent. Could go either way at this stage.
I was PMSL at the suggestion that he could become a "big power forward", better than KT (and a list of failed KPP forwards we've tried over the years). As I see it, McKernan's ceiling is closer to the Mark Stevens/Matt Robran range than it is to the KT/Walker range.

Power forward, no. Reasonably adequate tall forward, maybe. So you say he has talent and he could possibly make it. But he can't be a big power forward?![]()
Sorry.. I'm catching up on the last 3 weeks of posting, but I couldn't go past this one without commenting.
In what universe is/was Robran a better footballer than KT? That's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Robran's best ever season (1997) netted him a grand total of just 24 goals. Even his miraculous 6 goal haul in the 1998 PF only took his tally for that season to 22 goals for the year. Tippett has kicked a minimum of 31 goals every year, except for his debut season. Tippett averages 1.8 goals to Robran's 0.8. Robran isn't/wasn't fit to tie Tippett's shoelaces.
Then there's the pearler about McKernan. Anyone who suggests that he "could become that big power forward" is ready to have the men in white coats come and take them away to the funny farm, locked up in a straight jacket for their own safety. I was almost PMSL when I read that particular line.
Where the hell did these Sydney trolls come from?
Must be a tag-teaming thing!
They have some sort of collective consciousness thing going. Its quite strange.
One of the other trolls suggested it was to our detriment that we had different opinions on the topic of KT.
They all seem to instinctively know when to troll and when to scurry back under their bridge.
And more familiar than some would care to admit. They have some sort of collective consciousness thing going. Its quite strange.
Robran was never a goal kicking CHF....Sorry.. I'm catching up on the last 3 weeks of posting, but I couldn't go past this one without commenting.

Or back to the collective where drones belong?
We blame kirk for this.
Reality is that Sydney posters have been trolling our board for 2 days now. Mods asleep at the wheel.
Gimme a break... Yeah Im on the string with Tippet as much as any, but I just cant understand this comparison to freaking Robran of all people.
Were you guys still so enamoured with your new team back then to believe this guy was actually any good? I watched him from juniors at Norwood, and even then I could see his propensity to head duck and listen for footsteps was far greater then to cop a wrap on the back of his knuckles from a spoiling backman. Being a big fan of Baz, this would shit me no end. He was big, slow and soft, but could kick.Sure he had some pretty skills, but in my opinion he will go down as one of the softest pretty boys to don the Jumper.
No comparison to what Tippets done so far surrounded by a far softer unit than Robran ever was.
Christ, how do you guys judge a good footballer? Im dumbfounded.
They are different footballers that is for sure. I can't imagine Robran ever smashing a pack.
So you wouldn't pick Tiprat either. If I had a choice who to pick in a team, it would be the shit kick with the big heart and little fear every day of the week.
So you wouldn't pick Tiprat either.
