We have been prevented from trading or delisting Tippett.
Why?

We sat out our first 2 picks in this years draft.
Why?

If you can answer either of those questions without us having contravened any rules then I won't post until Nov 30.

Anyone listen to SEN today? Was listening to the old bald guy who is on every AFL panel he can squeeze his boney arse onto, and he made the comment "Adelaide has rorted the salery cap". This is not true from what I understand. I am of the view that the money paid to Tippett for not making his quota on third party deals were declared in the salery cap? Adelaide has also not paid money outside the cap or over it. If what I am led to understand is true then I would like to see us take on the people who have been misleading the public with lies. Let the QCs make some calls to people Bartlett on air and warn him. That would make great radio.

So you support that decision and feel that should be our policy moving forward? or were you just being facetious?
I was pointing out that this fanciful culture you are dreaming of where we stand side by side, united as one doesn't exist.

Can we get Pick 20 back then?

Why?

Carl you took 3 dots and painted the sydney harbour bridge.

Im not claiming everyone at the AFC is innocent or that the guilty parties shouldnt face penalties... i just realise that there are several ways to interpret the information presented by the media, even if you assume everything reported is true.

We have been prevented from trading or delisting Tippett. We sat out our first 2 picks in this years draft. We have engaged Edwardson QC et al to prepare our case and there is a commission hearing on friday. those are the facts. everything from there is based on assumptions, media reports, rumours and guessing.

If thats enough for you to convict i hope you never sit in a jury box.
You tell me which persons are guilty, and what they are guilty of specifically, and show me the evidence, i wont post until Nov 30.

I dont think what we've lost so far is that significant, and it does matter how weak the draft was and how low our picks were. if we had GWS' picks in this draft do you think the decision to pass on the first 2 picks would have been the same? as a contrived example lets say he uses 2 staples instead of one on all his paperwork in contravention of office rules, he has deprived the club of a valuable commodity because of his act, is that a sackable offence? obviously the value of what is lost is a factor.

We gave up something of medium to low value in what looks like an attempt to prevent losing something of high value. i doubt the decision would have been made lightly. Picks 20 and 54 in an average draft arent that valuable. 20 maybe but 54 is well into speculative territory.

I think its plausible that JR did it, Trigg found out and thought hed resolved it with velocity, got back during trade week to find out the tippetts were threatening to sue and went to the AFL with the full story. So in that scenario he's guilty of not notifying the AFL sooner, and the AFC and Edwardson et al think that losing 2 picks is reasonable penance for that oversight which is hardly a sacking offence.

Im not saying thats what happened because i wasnt there, but i think based on what ive read thats as plausible as Trigg made the deal, and conspired to keep it covered up.

The thing is in the AFL it's a game of centimeters. This year alone Collingwood/hawthorn have improved in the trade and draft period. Sydney, especially if they get Tippett will have improved thier list if nothing else pick 23 would have improved them slightly. What have we done relinquished our picks. Way to go admin team. Your scenario is possible but still if we ha come forward at that point this could have been avoided/mitigated to a much larger extent.

How would anyone possibly do that?

And why would they need to?

The club has admitted guilt.

The penalties we voluntarily gave up and have received are already the highest any club has copped since Carlton about a decade ago. So that should give you some idea as to the severity. And that's without any add-ons that may or may not come from Nov 30.

You are seriously clinging to the fact that we don't know yet whether we are guilty of:
a) Draft tampering
b) Salary Cap breach
c) Both

Why would you do this?

Any of the three options are disgraceful.

So... we can't hang Trigg without solid evidence but you are trying to do the same with Reid?

Oh, and in your Trigg The Legend fantasy sequence above, you've got John Reid personally under-writing six figure third party deals without anyone else at the club knowing about it.

I hope this isn't a key plank in our strategy next Friday.

Because ending someones career is a serious penalty and shouldnt be done on a whim
The club has admitted guilt.
no they havent

Not clinging to anything buddy, I just accept that we dont know what we dont know. I dont get why its so hard for you to do the same.

you ask many great questions, but you dont seem to be able to grasp that the reason i cant answer these questions is the same reason you cant. unless you were there or have seen evidence all you can do is speculate, which is fine, but you draw conclusions based on your speculation and claim it as fact.

Try anything. Speculate, guess, don't use any evidence... I don't care.

Just give me one possible reason that we would forfeit our picks if we are innocent.

Actually don't bother. There is no possible reason, as anyone with a quarter of a brain would realise.

How is my Trigg the legend fantasy any different from your Trigg the Devil fantasy?

Ill give you a clue, i can accept that mine is made up...

All good points. Our guys clearly aren't focussed on media at the moment.

you mean that guy that chose to nominate 1 club, is doing anything he can to get there, has demonstrated no concern for us getting any kind of good deal. yep im really confident we would have gotten great compensation for him otherwise, now whos being deluded

why would i? all thats done for you is make you look like a fool with a poorly constructed argument, think i'll pass

If your agruments cant stand on their own merits name calling doesnt help, sorry carl.

Carl I enjoy your posting but really....I think you going too hard too early.

I feel very confident that when this is all over the media will be seen to have greatly exaggerated what we are guilty of. There may be some minor technical breaches which will not support this perception the media has created that we have been serial cheaters.

Sure there may be a penalty which we suck up and move on. Our reputation will not be in tatters nor will we be disgraced. When its all done there may need to be changes, but that will play out after the hearing.

But here's the thing, in about 12 weeks time, one of our most exciting lists ever assembled will again take the field and be legitimate flag contenders. And how could you not love them....apart from the talent they are an incredibly likable side. I reckon all this rubbish will be forgotten with the first bounce.

In my fantasy the club has already copped penalties voluntarily (because they are guilty and trying to minimise damage), plus from the AFL (not allowing us to trade Tippett) and Trigg is facing charges in front of the commission next week.

So why are we giving picks up? Who was the last club that had draft picks taken from them?

And the AFL has since said that the penalties on Carlton were too harsh for what they did.

You're saying this as though it's an inconvenience, like drawing a game at Subi in Round 22. Oh well, they're the breaks.

Yes, the sun will come up tomorrow.

I'm surprised that some supporters are prepared to gloss over this whole thing.

If this doesn't make you question every aspect of the club (off field) then nothing will.

Maybe you missed the inference but the facts support my "fantasy"
