All clubs should pull their offers and tell him to shove his career up his arse
I saw a quote from Blutcher, that this effort by them, wont hurt Joels chances of being drafted, but surely it must. Clubs would be thinking twice about this family.

I actually dont blame Kurt for doing what he thinks is best for him, it was what each and every intelligent person would do when you have to make smart monetary decisions that will affect the rest of your life. (Forget for the moment that the Tippett's are apparently a well off family)

If I was offered an extra $1M to retire on, Im sorry but I would take that all day, every day so would each and every supporter from our club would do the same.

An extra $1M to retire on >>>>>>> A flag.

Ask Callinan who may have at best one year left in him, who started late in life in AFL what he would rather want. Of course publicly he will say a flag but I am sure privately he would want the $1M for his family. You are kidding yourselves if you think otherwise. How much would a player like him be on? Beans?? He would jump at the chance to take a $1M offer hypothetically from say Melbourne then play at our club in 2013.

I really do feel sorry for some of the players from our club in the early 90's who are working hard and doing 9 to 5 jobs or are financially struggling. There are plenty of hard luck stories of players that couldnt cut it and only played for a few years or less and are relatively unknowns now and are doing it tough in life.

Of course someone like Kurt is going to do whats best for him, after all when he retires one day no one is going to care or help him out. Go watch the movie "Any Given Sunday" to get a better idea of what I am saying.

My being upset at him is that he has screwed our club and affected our bargaining power and if more money is what drives him, then help our club engineer a trade that will help us given we helped him.

It's not about stroking anyone's ego. Trust me I've been through too much with AFGM in the past to want to further inflate his ego.

I just think he's right. Nothing that's happened to date disproves anything hes said. Unfortunately I don't think we are ever going to prove him right or wrong.

What, that he will end up at GC? He isn't psychic and he doesn't have "contacts". He took the most logical and grounded theory and wrapped a layer of self prophetic bulldust around it. Every great lie has 60% truth to it, that is why it is believable...

I agree with this. The only interesting part in what AFGM was saying was the signing of the contract in the preseason window.

That clearly is false.

I'm sure he did get some whispers from someone on the outside of Crows HQ, but it's obviously not accurate. He's taken those whispers and spun into an ornate story that now doesn't add up.

I hate saying it, but Vader seems closest.

Blucher had a deal lined up at GCS, but the $$$ aren't enormous. He has the $$$ on the table from Sydney, but he's not near home. And he has a good mix from Brisbane but they're not leading in any area.

I think it'll end up being Brisbane.

Okay I had a meeting, has he nominated a team yet?

Will Kurt be the first player in the AFL to be delisted because he couldn't work out where he wants to go before the end of the trade period?

The trade period doesn't finish until 26 October, we could have set the world record for a single thread if Stabby hadn't closed the other thread prematurely.

Ain't worrying Sando anymore, he's clearly over $kirt Yippett!!!.....:thumbsu:

Obviously has someone on the radar to replace him.

CROWS coach Brenton Sanderson has closed the book on Kurt Tippett and is preparing a raid across the AFL to replace the defecting forward.

Sanderson today expressed his surprise in Tippett turning his back "on the opportunity to stay with a successful club''.

Adelaide at the weekend will learn Tippett's preferred club in a trade ahead of AFL trade month opening on Monday. This expected to be Sydney with Gold Coast as Tippett's safety net.

"He had an opportunity to stay with a successful club,'' said Sanderson. ``We thought the chance to be part of sustained success would be hard to turn down.

"But I'm okay with it. And we'll pinch someone from another club. We're certainly working hard to get the best deal possible.''

This morning, Brisbane national talent manager Rob Kerr admitted the Lions had "most of our eggs in the Kurt Tippett basket’’ and the club was waiting on a response from the forward.

Oh Please this is an internet forum dont come in here and make logical and sensible arguments ;)

Completely 100% disagree. If you had trained your guts out for years, managed school and footy through your teen years and sacrificed countless nights out with the boys because you want to do your best at footy the next day, dreamt of playing AFL and winning a flag since you were 7 years old, getting paid 700k a year and winning a flag trumps getting paid 1mill a year and no flag.

If a person is so hell bent on money, they can earn money 1000's of different ways. Someone does not choose to pursue a career in footy at age 14 because of the money, they have to love football too.

For me, playing a game I love with my mates trumps the cash.

If KT is supposedly looking after his future by choosing the highest paying offer, he is thicker than Gary Lyons chest hair. ANYONE who cannot set themselves up for life earning 200-300k a year for 8 years is an absolute imbecile, let alone 700k a year. This is why I believe that if he moves to QLD then his family is very important to him. If he goes to Sydney, something between him and the AFC isnt working.

The Callinan is a poor example and may take the cash as he missed out on the first 8 years of his AFL career. Saying that there are plenty of hard luck stories of players that couldnt cut it and only played for a few years or less and are relatively unknowns now and are doing it tough in life isnt exactly correct either. Why are they doing it tough when millions of people in Australia never had a chance to play AFL and are surviving fine? I would consider 2 years on an AFL list earning 100k a year as a chance to either progress in an AFL career, or a chance to save 50k in 2 years and pay the education fees required to have a decent paying job after footy. Not many people in their early 20's have a chance to earn 100k a year.

I hear you and it is a good argument if you are under paid, but if you already have security and Kurt does after 6 well paid years at the Crows you should be well enough off to chase your dream, for most guys that would be a flag, for Kurt it seems to be more and more money. And that sends off alarm bells in my head. He could of stayed at the Crows, had the cash and the chance of getting a flag. It's poor form in my book.

What is the record?

And why do the mods shut a thread down? That is something I can never understand?

Even if threads go off on tangents, what does it matter that people keep posting?

Is it an IT issue?
The other thread was full of speculation.. would he go, or wouldn't he? With that question answered, a new thread was started - we know he's going, the questions now are where he goes and what do we get in return?

We used to be instructed to close threads when they hit 1000 posts, on the old vBulletin system. I believe this was an IT related issue. There is no requirement to close threads at 1000 posts now that BigFooty has moved to XenForo.

It's always about the money with you eastcoastcrow. You've mentioned more than once on the punting board how delighted you were with Adelaide losing because you bet against them. Fortunately not everyone thinks like you do. Plenty of players stay on less money than they could get elsewhere, be it for loyalty, potential success, environment.

Which AFL player do you resemble, and why?
I think I resemble Nick Riewoldt because he is a hard working CHF, he has similar build to myself and he played CHB as a junior in the under 18 championship. I aspire to be as good as he is

The other thread was full of speculation.. .

As opposed to this thread that is full of deep and meaningful facts.

I'm disappointed that your opinions on trade possibilities Vader are impaired by you living on the other side of the country. It hasn't affected your capacity to make definitive comments about the future of players who you have rarely or in some cases never seen play the game. ;)

I never noticed Vader lived in Canberra, hey, Vader is evil, menacing, wants to rule the empire and lives in Canberra your first name isn't Julia is it ;)

I was stating an extra million over the life time of a career. Which when you consider if they have paid off their house and have no debt, is plenty to retire on.

The average life span of an AFL career if I am not mistaken is less than 4 yrs (can someone please correct me)

Your kidding right? You mean to tell me there are not plenty of hard luck stories of AFL players with short careers? Today in 2012 things are different as players are advised how to spend their money and invest wisely, but this was not the case for a lot of players in the early 90s at the AFC.

Look at Bock and Davis to them money is much more important than a flag. Especially more so in Bocks case given his age.

Your kidding yourself if you think a flag is more of a motivating factor than money for most players.

Thats a fairly confident call from Sando saying we'll pinch someone from another club to replace $kurt. Ballsy or naive?

If Dangerfield was offered $2M a year by say the Demons to return to Victoria, do you think he would stay at the Crows?

Money is and will always continually will be a motivating factor for most players.

The elite players do have it a little bit easier as there is the opportunity to make money through endorsements and in the media. but not so for the average AFL player.

not bad for his first goal from outside 50
Defenders are easier to develop
I'd say play talia CHF - obviously he has the endurance (from memory he was u18s all Australian as a midfielder ) He would get to the contest a lot more and leave tex one out!
