some of these posts and the steadfast denial will be hilarious to read when adelaide front the commission and grovel at andy d's feet
I remember hawks supporters talking about how awesome it will be to go back through all the posts after they win the grand final

In my fantasy the club has already copped penalties voluntarily (because they are guilty and trying to minimise damage), plus from the AFL (not allowing us to trade Tippett) and Trigg is facing charges in front of the commission next week.
In hindsight we shouldn't have given away draft picks because we are innocent and have not admitted our guilt

Is it too late to say we're innocent?

[Bart has seen Principal Skinner and Mrs. Krabappel kissing.]
Skinner: Now, Bart...son...I don't know what you think you saw but let me assure you that...
Mrs. Krabappel: What Seymour..I mean, what Principal Skinner means, Bart, is that sometimes a little boy's imagination can run away with him!
Bart: That's the best you can do? You could have at least said you were giving her CPR or rehearsing a play!
Skinner: Is it...too late to say that?
Bart: Mmm-hmm!

Maybe giving up the picks was another move towards making an insanity plea?

So why are we giving picks up? Who was the last club that had draft picks taken from them?

And the AFL has since said that the penalties on Carlton were too harsh for what they did.

You're saying this as though it's an inconvenience, like drawing a game at Subi in Round 22. Oh well, they're the breaks.

Yes, the sun will come up tomorrow.

I'm surprised that some supporters are prepared to gloss over this whole thing.

If this doesn't make you question every aspect of the club (off field) then nothing will.

I'm frequently on record as being critical of the sanfl old boys club which we know exists. This may be an opportunity to clear that up and put a broom through. I would be happy with that if the results of this warrant it.

But I'm certainly not going to stand behind the Vic media and wave pitch forks at my own club on their say so. And I'm not going to sit in judgement of my club if they are guilty of nothing more than non intentional, technical breaches. This is not some elaborate plan ....not two sets of books.

No one has done anything criminal here.

If we haven't done anything major, then why have we behaved as though we have?

Volunteering to forfeit the picks has shattered any slim hope I had that this was all a media beat up and we'd only made a minor book-keeping snafu.

What I am most fearful of now is that the Board and key personnel will be more set on self preservation than on getting the best result for the club. A good result for Trigg/Harper/Reid/Chapman and a good result for the AFC may not be mutually inclusive.

I'm not married. How did I become married in my own hypothetical world.
what jenny was getting at is that you can not have a prenuptial (or pre-marriage) agreement after one gets married as the people would already be married. it's called a pre-nup because it's an agreement made before marriage about what will occur if the future marriage dissolves. so if you made $5 million during the marriage without a pre-nup during the divorce it would be a 50/50 split.

This is why it makes me think we have a guaranteed result at the hearing...at least I bloody well hope so. It would be sheer madness to give away our picks and admit our guilt thus guaranteeing the demise of some officials unless a plea bargain was done

Apparently Chapman is flying over daily to put an apple on his desk

I agree, the deal has been done.

Yep :thumbsu:

A deceitful, scheming, under-handed, shady AFL intent on cultivating the perception of a squeaky clean, professionally run competition could be a real blessing for us here.

They don't want a competition riddled with cheating that they are unable to police. Much easier to "loosen the rules" a little so that there are fewer breaches. A bit like the ICC making the 15 degree chucking rule. Saved them plenty of headaches.

We've learned our lesson, copped a bit of a whack... play on! Let's never speak of this again.

I think that what has happened is that we have gone to the AFL and asked, if we are guilty of x, y and z what is the penalty likely to be. The AFL has given us a ballpark figure for this hypothetical and clarified that the self-applied penalties will be subtracted from whatever the commission gives us for breaches x, y and z.

However we are going to argue alleged breaches a, b and c.

Surely there was an agreement made between the club and the AFL. We wouldn't give up picks if they hadnt notified us that it would help. Also judging by the way AA spoke it was clear there was an agreement

AA's comments did it for me as well.

It's almost like the AFL and AFC are in bed together and really aren't happy about the fact Tippett is trying to screw them both. I think that's probably why Tippett's clan want Andy D out of the hearing.

Major?

Major in Melb Storm. Losing flags, playing for no points...running 2 sets of books, organised, planned deliberate cheating.

I'm backing we have done a deal and we lose 2 draft picks. It's minor sanction for a minor breach

Agreed. I reckon we're only going to be sent an invoice for the AFL's legal bills and Andy D's overtime.

You tell me which persons are guilty, and what they are guilty of specifically, and show me the evidence, i wont post until Nov 30.

Having read the same back n forth over and over, I don't follow what it is you are arguing?

you seem to be suggesting there is little known about the situation, which flies in the face of the competing narrative about the leaks

I think there is already sufficient information to expect some heads to roll, what we don't know is how many others

self imposed pick 20 and 54, most severe penalties in AFL history... dramatic much?

No, not at all. If anything we're underselling its significance, given how rare a club not being allowed in rounds of the draft is.
