MarkP, the deceptions have just started, the club lying to its supporters. And wait til you see Tippett's demands, and the amount you will be over-paying him.

He's not worth it, we should know.

do you personally feel that he is worth 3.5mil over 4 years?

Personally no. But our recruitment staff do a good job so if they think it so be it.

Having said that, and I repeat, 202cm 100kg skilled payers are not in abundance.

Just so we are clear I personally would prefer to have him than not given our list structure. Is he critical get at all costs? No. So if we miss no big deal. You will find that is the view of the majority of the Swans board by the way. Indifference with a lean to getting him.

So let me get this right. We are screwing you over because we knew about a secret deal (note that you only guess this however logical it may be, you don't know it) you made off the books in defiance of the trade rules? Sydney are mean and nasty because we are using the deal the AFC struck years ago in the way it was designed to be used?

Yah that makes sense.

And lost our reputation as fair traders. Gosh. That hurts. I guess next time Adelaide wants to deal with us they won't regardless of whether it is in their interest to do so or not. That's logical right?
Notice how here you can actually engage in a discussion and argument without immediatley getting childish insults thrown at you from all corners. Something your board would do well to learn from...

Sold our soul?

How?

We bid for a player that was on the market. Hyperbole much?

I like the conspiracy theorist’s word that you made initial contact when the Kurt was looking around for his “investment property” in June.

You certainly put down your first deposit then.

Plus telling your players who sacrificed for a flag that you'd rather overpay for a mercenary than reward their endeavors.

Oh please.

They are either on deals already signed or are able to renegotiate when their contracts come up for renewal.

You make it sound like everyone gets a pay rise every year and contracts are written and re-wrtitten on a annual basis.

What did any of our players sacrifice, your words, for the premiership in the context you are describing?

Calling somebody a mercenary because he chooses to seek out a pay rise and more opportunity in his field of employment is hardly a devastating critique.

You make absolutely no sense at all. If any player is unhappy or can get more cash elsewhere when out of contract then they are free to negotiate. That's how it all works. You really do make it sound much harder than it is.

Notice how we actually make sensible statements and have valid points?

Screw you over? Do you guys take any responsibility for your own actions?

You haven't been reading the 23000 posts here? (fair enough) Or the 'Trigg must go' thread, have you?

We certainly think someone at the club should take responsibility for agreeing to all Yippett's demands.

You've got a flag mate, don't sell your soul and get into bed with the Tippetts now.

I always hated Bulbasaur

It was always either Charmander or Squirtle. Always.

Do you work with the Swans finances do you? How could you possibly know that?

No one knows however with Bradshaw, Seaby, Moore, TDL and an extra 350k next year for all clubs it is safe to assume we shall be ok. Player retention is something that will be more interesting for us if we do land tippett, however the extra 600k and white and bolton moving it shouldn't be too bad

I have no doubt that Kurt, his Manger, his Father and the Swans attempted to take advantage of the illegal side agreement

However with that said the AFC set itself up for failure on this matter by agreeing to this side deal and by doing drove the actions and behavior of the other parties

If we didn't agree to the side agreement in the first place the rest of the argument becomes moot

We need to clean up our own head office and spot finger pointing at others

Most mature and pointed response to this mess. /hat tip.

Is it possible that some of his future colleagues will feel the same?

Sure. But so what? The only evidence we have so far is RoK is keen to have him on board.

[quote="SpeciousArgument, post: 26534105, member: 131044"We used to think that too. good luck to you if you pick up Joel too.[/quote]

Well we did just win a premiership with a bunch of nobodies (as per BF and the press assessment) so I guess they must be doing something right.

Wow. Just wow.

What lies?

What demands?

We make the offer or accepts his - a negotiated arrangement can't be overpaying by definition if the parties agree. Perceived value of sporting commodity is always open to question and will always be so.

If he is not worth an elite pay packet why does this board maintain he was worth 2 first round picks at a minimum. There is a distinct gap in the narrative.

does every person on your board share identical opinions?

claiming that this board or this thread maintains his minimum value was 2 first round picks is a gross generalisation. shame on you.

If they choose to participate, the current order, which can change up to Friday is
1 GWS
2 Bullies
3 Port
4 Richmond
5 Essendon
6 Carlton
7 St.Kilda
8 Collingwood
9 Sydney
10 GWS
11 Richmond
12 Sydney
13 Sydney

Given the large number of key position players of high draft standing on the GWS books and the fact only a few days ago they made a press statement about asking players to accept salaries below market value in the future to "keep the group together" and the fact the only talk of Tippett seems to be from Sheedy the talking megaphone, I don't really think they are looking at drafting Tippett. Far too many risks and places the future stability of their hugely impressive list in jeopardy.

Think we just have to suck it up and accept that the Swans is where he is going.

Don't expect a knee jerk reaction to the cost of living allowance by the AFL as it will hurt their baby GWS just as much as the Swans'. They may have a lot of young kids but at the end of 2013 they need to resign most of the 2011 draftees to new contracts and heaps of those players will want a stack more money. We need to suck that up too.

Come to think of it, this whole saga sucks. WTF didn't we trade KT to Brisbane last year, heads must roll for not doing that deal!
don't we have pick 9 to reclaim Joyce?

Is there something I'm missing?

I always thought people were labeled mercenaries because they forgo loyalty in favour of the highest bidder.
