Why would they be? Tell me next time you don't change job because of loyalty to your current employer so I am sure not to call you a mercenary. Hate to get confused. I will call you something else though. I will let you guess it.

Looks like you and Kurt would get along well.;)

Rubbish - KT slotted his fair number of goals from set shots .. and it's part of the deal with his type of player. Cloke is exactly the same, would you not want Cloke because he misses some set shots?

KT is a lot of things, but for a guy his size one of his best attributes was his second and third efforts ... his ground level stuff is very good. Add that to his marking ability, he is a rare beast.

Not my favourite type of player, but from a purely football perspetive having him on your team contributes more than just on the scoreboard.

I apologize I should have clarified myself. When he is on he can win a game off his own boot, but with the inflated markets (thanks, GC & GWS) he is being valued way above his worth. Kurt isnt a 'natural' footballer and i dont think he deserves to be rated with the best KPFs in the league. I expect Pavlich, Jonathon Brown, Cloke, Walker, Riewoldt (both) are all on less money than tippett but in my opinion are better footballers. I agree he has attributes (ruck abilities and 2nd efforts) but i doubt that he is worth 1 million per season and as a loyal crows fan i would have angrier if we had offered him a deal in that vicinity.

i just hope we dont have a choir at the airport again.

Hell that was embarassingly cringeworthy when I saw it on the news and all the worse because they were holding sheets with the song words on! Looked all the more stupid when we got beaten.

Only want TV cameras at the airport when Tippett arrives next June but want real passion at the ground on gameday.

I just don't think you can separate his kicking from the rest of him and say "he's a crap footballer".

As far as what he is worth ... whatever someone will pay him. The best players that contribute the most don't necessarily get paid the most. That's just how it is.

Didnt really look like backpedalling to me.

"We're going to be very keen to get him obviously," GWS coach Kevin Sheedy said.

"He may or may not get through to us in regards to what he's going to put on himself in (terms) of payments to play.

"Either way if we don't get him, then I hope Sydney do.

"It's great for AFL in Sydney, we want to get a player like that, we need a ruck-forward, that's the way I'm looking at it.

"That will complement the height and the structure of the team as we set sail into the next three or four years of where we hope to get to."

"We've got plenty of money, it's whether we want to spend it.

"It's the rules of the AFL, particularly in zoning and drafting, and they've always been that way - you will go where you're told and where you're picked.

"If you go in the draft and get picked, you go wherever whoever picked you.

"That's the deal.

"If the money is right, we'll be going there."
Still looks like attempts to drive up his price to me. If thats the case Sheedy is doing the AFL and Tippett a favour at the expense of Sydney

I just hope if he gets to sydney that he has a shot after the siren from 15m out in a prelim and sprays it. His kicking then would come under scrutiny. Where did i say anything about him being a crap footballer?

I hope so. We'll be wanting compensation for Tippett and Joyce, and if we're feeling particularly nasty we should try to recoup our legal costs.:p
We won't be getting any compensation for Tippett, given that we illegally obtained his services for an additional 2 years. It is entirely appropriate that the penalty for this should be losing his services for no return. That's natural justice.

Joyce will be back on our list as soon as we can call his name in the PSD. No harm done, other than Joyce receiving a well deserved kick up the backside by being made abundantly aware of his positioning on our team list. He now knows he has to lift his game or face being delisted at the end of 2013.

As for the AFL paying for our legal costs.. PMSL.

Just on the discrepancy on people who may, or are likely to, have inside info form the club - we've already heard from AFGM a few different 'views' and beliefs on whether TIps was going or not. I'd suggest the way such people view the situation is likely to be as different as many of us do - even though they are all more informed on 'facts'.

That's where good administration comes in - they take the right risks and make the right decisions when facts are murky.

Fair call - you never said he was a crap footballer. I was being more general - people are bagging him now because of what he has been involved in - and what that might do to our club.

Lots pick out his kicking - and usually follow with a scenario like yours of losing them a GF or PF.

As a unit - he is one of the top KP players in the AFL. He has his flaws, but his upside is pretty big for the right team.

I personally don't think it will hurt us massively - and I still hope that from all this - McKernan will stand up and reach that potential he has been promising.

I agree, he didnt want to be here and it gives others an opportunity, hopefully Smack, JJ or Lynch take the opportunity. I also think that Lynch would be a good fit as a forward and would give us flexibility in defence and maybe run on a wing. I think we all feel the same frustration with his decision and the predicament it has put the club in (even though its their own doing).

If Tippett makes it to Sydney do you think there is a chance he may not make it out of Adelaide alive when the Swans play the Crows? Ive never been to AAMI but judging from the first final the crowd will monster Kurt?

Supporters should be fine and you expect the crowd to lift.
Crow fans will be in hysterics baying for Kurts blood, I think the Crows players will also be feeling the same sentiment, I really cant wait to see this game, the build up will immense especially if both sides are going well.

Just noticed on the GWS website that Sheedy is now taking a backward step on drafting Tippett saying he's not sure if KT is worth the $.

I've thought all along that he wasn't a good fit for GWS and the only Tippett talk was coming from Sheedy who is now backing away to save face when they don't draft him.

Looks like he will be Swans bound in the PSD. Looking forward to his return to footy park in June next year - packed house? 19th Man never been louder?

Mate, you HAVE to start actually reading articles if you're going to discuss them on the internet! This is the second one for the day! Either you're not showing much reading comprehension, or you're a troll. In the article, Sheedy sounds VERY interested.

"We're going to be very keen to get him obviously," GWS coach Kevin Sheedy said.

"That will complement the height and the structure of the team as we set sail into the next three or four years of where we hope to get to."

Asked if GWS had the money to meet what are expected to be hefty financial terms, Sheedy replied: "We've got plenty of money, it's whether we want to spend it.

"It's the rules of the AFL, particularly in zoning and drafting, and they've always been that way - you will go where you're told and where you're picked.

"If you go in the draft and get picked, you go wherever whoever picked you.

I agree with all of this apart from the Smack point. He has a heap of natural talent but nowhere near Tippett's competiveness. I know which I would rather have.

I don't have a problem with Sydney posters on our board, but all we ask for is a little respect when posting on our board and to realise this is where the most passionate supporters live, so of course our views may be way different to yours on the issue.

No need to be arrogant in your posts either, that is what pisses people off the most. You don't have to apologise for it, but I'm guessing if you want to continue posting on here to settle down a little.

I'm mainly talking about MarkP btw, Shotties really isn't that bad.

I know a lot of people that dont change jobs due to loyalty to their employer and reluctance to be referred to as 'mercenary' particularly in higher profile, higher paying jobs.

Interesting:

"Adelaide chairman Rob Chapman last night confirmed that after strong recent discussions with the AFL through each parties' lawyers, the Crows were ''contrite'' and keen to move on as soon as possible after the hearing.

Adelaide gave up its first two choices in last week's national draft as a ''goodwill gesture'' ahead of the hearing, but is still expected to be heavily punished for the agreement it struck with Tippett when recontracting him in 2009.

Chief executive Steven Trigg, football manager Phil Harper and former football manager John Reid are also planning to plead guilty to all charges.

Harper is facing one charge of breaching salary cap rules, while Trigg, Reid and the club are facing two charges of breaching both salary cap and draft rules.

''We've had some engaging discussions with the AFL, we're contrite and I care about upholding the integrity of the competition as much as anyone,'' Chapman said.

''What I want now is to get the right overall outcome for our club. I can't afford to take chances that could harm my club more than it needs to be harmed.

''We're ready to face up to it on Friday, minimise the risk to the club and get the best outcome possible because we know that the integrity of the competition is paramount.''
