''We're ready to face up to it on Friday, minimise the risk to the club and get the best outcome possible because we know that the integrity of the competition is paramount.''

because we know that the integrity of the competition is paramount

integrity of the competition is paramount

Funny I took these two quotes as a good sign:

''We've had some engaging discussions with the AFL, we're contrite and I care about upholding the integrity of the competition as much as anyone,'' Chapman said.

Engaging in that we have sorted all of this out - and Friday is just for everyone else.

''What I want now is to get the right overall outcome for our club. I can't afford to take chances that could harm my club more than it needs to be harmed.

Harm minimisation is good.

Interesting:

"Adelaide chairman Rob Chapman last night confirmed that after strong recent discussions with the AFL through each parties' lawyers, the Crows were ''contrite'' and keen to move on as soon as possible after the hearing.

Adelaide gave up its first two choices in last week's national draft as a ''goodwill gesture'' ahead of the hearing, but is still expected to be heavily punished for the agreement it struck with Tippett when recontracting him in 2009.

Chief executive Steven Trigg, football manager Phil Harper and former football manager John Reid are also planning to plead guilty to all charges.

Harper is facing one charge of breaching salary cap rules, while Trigg, Reid and the club are facing two charges of breaching both salary cap and draft rules.

''We've had some engaging discussions with the AFL, we're contrite and I care about upholding the integrity of the competition as much as anyone,'' Chapman said.

So he is contrite that we have seriously stuffed up, but at the same time says we should not get rid of Trigg because of this mistake. Meanwhile we bend over & take it (why are we payiing for those high paid lawyers?) & just move on like nothing ever happened. Marvellous stuff...

We have clearly struck a satisfactory deal in the circumstances. The negotiations have given both parties a "way out" that is more attractive than a bitter dispute.

Interesting Tippett wants to run the gauntlet and go for gold.

Once its done we can look at internal ramifications and get on with business.

You are seriously a one man sack Trigg band.

Or we are taking the punishment and not fighting it so we don't potentially cop more.

So here's the thing with third party deals. The AFLs policy on them has more holes than a pound of Swiss cheese. One of the reasons clubs are nervous at the moment is because they probably have one or two indiscretions relating to TPPs in their own closets. If as you say Trigg organized one back in his early days, so what? The rules are so ******* ambiguous they created the Visi Judd agreement FFS. He won't be crucified based on that - if indeed it happened at all!

It was not ambiguous.

Arranging for an AFC sponsor to pay a couple of players six figure salaries without any requirement to provide their services to the business. Paying this under the table and not informing the AFL is not ambiguous.

You still haven't answered the question Jenny, have you looked ST in the eye and asked if this happened?

You are seriously a one man sack Trigg band.
I'm seriously pissed off that my club has put together its best ever list is probably going to have it's premiership window closed earlier than otherwise due to massive incompetence of AFC management. I make no apologies for wanting someone to be made accountable, which is normal practice when illegal deals/cover-up have happened in business.

You are seriously a one woman support of Trigg - flying in the face of all evidence. Have you considered a job on the AFC board?

See i don't read it that way .... start of the "spin" we're about to get

Trigg says ....."looking forward to telling our story & don't believe everything you read"

You know what ......we've been lied to

Article says all people to plead guilty ........well how many ways can you slice & dice those comments

:thumbsu::thumbsu: ....what a sad time

so much promise ......starting to pull a good team together ....move to Adelaide Oval ....everything on the up

That is until Triggs incompetence just put us back 5 years

No possible way Trigg can stay ......he's flat out lied to club supporters

Am I the only one to suspect that it wasn't the AFL tipping off Emma Quayle?

This has been classic Paul Keating pre-budget spin. You leak all sorts of horrors to the press and then everyone is delighted when we "only" lose our top two draft picks for three drafts (2012, 2013 and 2014).

As I said last night, the suggested punishment does not fit our supposed crimes. A deals been done and I'm afraid that we are not likely to ever hear "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth".

Ahh your just a pathetic supporter. As long as the board and sponsors are ok though!

I seriously doubt AFC was leaking stuff to Emma Qualyle, as they wouldn't want the media circus... & why would they try & damage their captain NVB - makes no sense. Pretty sure it came from the AFL.
