The media reports may not be accurate to the dollar, but are you seriously suggesting that it wouldn't be around that sort of money? Let me guess, he's going to play for you on base salary.

Now your just being silly, :) you stated we had made him an offer that would make him top 5% in the AFL, I simply pointed out that we haven't stated what our offer will be but the club has made it clear it will be less than what he was on at the Crows. If he comes home it's not for money.

From what I have read on this board I am starting to think he will chase the Sydney dollars and that may be the best outcome for both our clubs.

Mate, don't worry about CaptainDangerfield - every club has supporters like him. We just smile politely at his rants. He's like that bogun uncle everyone has who gets drunk at Christmas and shouts at the rellies.
Mine included Kristof, cheers for the support :thumbsu:

Howard is a chance, they sniffed last season but he choose to stay.
Crows are seriously interested.
Crows have 3 needs in this trade i was told:
1) Ruck who can play forward (Giles maybe Gorringe);
2) KPD/CHB (I was told someone from Essendon i assume Pears or Hooker) They are also looking at Patful from Brisb but doubt he will come back;
3) Outside midf similar to David McKay (thought it was Pearce, wonder if Howard can play that role)?

*This trade period is gonna drag, so just have to wait and see.

The crows like Horlin-Smith but when i asked i was told its highly unlikely this season.

Hooker is 196cm 97kg he fits the KPD more so than the 191cm 92kg Pears

Maybe better for you guys to avoid him.Not a team first type of guy. Biggest FIGJAM since Buckley.

Again, it may not be accurate to the dollar, but this seems consistent with what other media outlets have mooted the Crows offer as ($800k - hence GC's offer being less than Crows) and up to 1mil from Sydney. I know it's par for the course to bash the media on here, but they do have contacts within clubs feeding them info.

Suns' $3.5m bid for Kurt Tippett

http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2012/10/03/439097_gold-coast-afl.html

Sydney would definitely be better for us (although would make Kurt far more disliked than if he goes home) as they don't have the PSD option, unless Kurt put a prohibitive price on his head which no other club would match, but we have a good history of trading fairly with the Swans and I really can't see them doing that. The problem is who they'd be willing to give up that would interest us, or who they'd be willing to trade to a 3rd party who could then satisfy our wishes.

I still think he'll go to GC though.

Just thinking about the mitch clark comparison. With the sub rule the game has changed so that a fwd/ruck is one of the most important positions for teams to fill. This wasnt the case when Clark left Brisbane. I would argue he had been on a steady decline since his great 2009 season as well. Add to this that Kurt has produced the goods in a couple of high pressure finals plus the fact he's got the biggest clubs in the land clamoring for his services and i think KT is easily worth more in a trade than what Clark fetched last year.
Given that draft picks are generally over-rated in most pro sports I think his real value is easily pick 2 but given the circumstances and the fact GC are in the box seat, Gorringe plus the Caddy pick is fair to both teams.
If we were dealing with Sydney I would expect a fair trade but Im expecting AFGM to be right and we'll all be screaming in a week or 3. The GC posters on here seem like a reasonable bunch, lets hope their football club is the same and surprise us all.

Yeah I agree in a sense, that pick 2 is probably fair value. I'd like us to go hard for him, and bring pick 2 as a last resort after day 15 butting heads with AFC if that was the case. I doubt it will be necessary though, thats just my opinion, and certainly not of the consensus of the Suns community. Draft picks are overrated.
I continue to bring Clark up though as thats the only meaningful comparison I can find of the last few years in trade history. Figured it was a good starting point, many supporters demand the world, but I'm trying to get some history of something similar and be a bit more logical I guess. It's our biggest trade to date in our short history, and probably will be for the next decade to be honest. Not many 600-800k key forwards get moved around very often...

pick 2 is fair, easy and quick.
But you would think GC will play hard ball.
I would still be amazed if he didnt end up at GC

Wish it wasn't so long. It always gets played out in the media like this with no one showing their hand publicly, same with any kind of negotiation with a house, investment, business, car etc...etc...

I don't mind repeating myself a little in that I think the Mitch Clark trade last year is probably something similar to expect as they are of the same type of player, forward/ruck, similar contract, similar age in their peak, similar body type and atheleticism. Pick 12 got it done last year, I suspect something in the low/mid teens + 2nd rounder. Or perhaps Hayden Jolly who came out last week I think it was requesting a trade back to SA, so he could be thrown somewhere in there as well.

Alternatively maybe a 3 way trade with a Vic team involving Caddy with some swapping of some picks. He just needs to bloody nominate so we can further chalk up some hypotheticals for next couple weeks!!:oops:
With all due respect Tippett is a much better player than Clarke so I don't share your view. You can build a forward line around Tippett but you can't build one around Clark.

We will agree to disagree on this one but a few good footy judges have said in the media that Adelaide should be expecting two first round picks one of which is inside 10.

Yeah I think its just his manager Blucher basically doing his "job" - increasing his contract price, and getting the best price for his client. Make the interested parties sweat, I'm probably about 70% confident he will nominate Suns.

Gold Coast have the most assetts to trade with, we have a couple out of contract players now (after their drafted 2 year contracts), a few 1st round compensation picks (2 or 3?) and obviously quite a few draft picks which in our short history have been on traded to upgrade and been quite successful with that. Found Wikipedia quite helpful in checking our trading history from 2010 and 2011.

15 more days of this???? :eek::confused:
I'm betting they'll string this right out till the end. Will be one of those deals that holds up everyone else then...BAM, the floodgates open in the final days.

Yeah, i agree the Clark trade is the most comparable, I just thought I'd highlight the points of difference as I see it. It will be interesting to see how GC handle this trade (assuming thats where KT wants to go). Do they establish a Sydney-esque reputation with their 1st big trade, or do they play hardball figuring that the rest of the comp will be trying to pilfer some of their talent soon anyway.

Sydney would definitely be better for us

Sydney would be the worst option, because they have nothing to give us. Their first pick is 22, they have no quality players demanding out that could come to us or earn a pick to send to us, and they have nothing good that they want to ship out.

The best option, on paper, is Brisbane. They have enough to offer, and not enough position to threaten a walk out.

GC stating Gorringe and Day won't be included in any trade. Well **** you, send him to the PSD. Must make Kurt feel valued

#2 has to be in our sights - it makes sense for both sides of the fence.

And them saying it, means nothing - if they want to come home, we'll be talking to them independent of their Club.

Clarke had two pretty crappy years before this year didnt he thats why brisbane only got pick 12.
Under his current form brisbane wouldve got more.

Tippet is worth more than just a pick between 12 and 20.
I know pick 2 is unlikely but a player and a pick between 15 and 22 is fairer.

Just dont see how Swans can do a deal as hard to tell a premiership player we are trading you .
Unless Grundy happy to come home or can get Rohan to agree but know they rate him so that doubtful.
Getting a average player plus pick 22 not very exciting to replace Kurt

Tippett and 19 for Day and 2 :D

If Giles is stupid enough to leave his solid starting position at the GWS for nothing but his old patch at Central Districts, then I don't want him. He would be coming as nothing more than a backup ruckman for Jacobs, because he's not even a quarter of the forward Tippett is, and if we're relying on him down there than just **** next year off now and aim for 2014.

2) KPD/CHB (I was told someone from Essendon i assume Pears or Hooker) They are also looking at Patful from Brisb but doubt he will come back;
Broken
Meh
Gag
3) Outside midf similar to David McKay (thought it was Pearce, wonder if Howard can play that role)?

Outside mid, but not a particularly great one, and not a speedy one either. He's another bog standard 8-10 midfielder, why are we wasting time on him? Worth our second round pick at most, and I'm not certain he's interested in leaving the Bulldogs - I thought he was still contracted?
