Seriously, at the end of the day, wtf is mediation going to do?

AFC: Sydney are only offering us 23+White, we reckon that's BS, he's easily worth a pick in the top 10 plus a pick between 10 and 20.

AFL Mediator: Hmmm yes... Sydney, I really think you should be offering more.

SFC: Nah, get f'd, its 23+White or we just pick him up in the PSD.

Unless the mediators have the power to force Sydney to do anything, its just a massive waste of everyone's time, this isn't primary school, this is an elite sport, as long as its within the rules clubs can do whatever they like.

I tend to agree, mediators are helpful when they act as neutral facilitators to remind both sides of the mediation where they stand. This really isn't necessary, because the whole AFL community is saying that Sydney is ripping us off and yet they are still not budging.

unless we're able to on-trade it to improve our pick 19 pick 23 IS worthless.

This is how much Sydney are trolling us:

We offer your player big money so he only nominates US
We need you to take a player we dont want and you dont need to free up cap space for the player we're poaching
In return we will give you a pick that you cant use without delisting one of you players.

Neither has Grigg or Lyon or Crouch; you'd trade them for bugger all?

Polec is quality, and the same argument we're making about Tippett applies here; you can bundle as much crap up together as you want, but it still wont buy you a diamond.

Not labelling a player this, but a big pile of shit isn't worth much more than a little pile of shit; it's still just a bunch of shit.

They are being pricks. As I said prepare the lube. Again Triggs comments today about White are real cause for concern. Why do we even consider the boy? He is a spud. Theres a stench somewhere.

Crouch hasn't been able to play a game yet. I would trade Grigg for 20 and 23. Surely you would to? And thats alot more then Sydney are offering us for Tippett.

I threw Crouch in there to be mischevious and he's the only genuinely low draft pick we've got; but hasn't Polec had injury issues?

Would be similar to trading Davis for #20/#23 when he'd shown a lot, but had injury get in the way.

Grigg, possibly - but we're talking a top 10 pick.

Lyon, probably not. Smith, definitely not.

I assume youre trolling but i'll bite, how is strengthening Sturt good for the SANFL? IF they wanted to improve attendances why bring in a player that most crows fans said 'who?' when we heard the initial trade rumours. bring in fev if you want a draw card.

Bad examples. Crouch would effectively been drafted this year as a top 5 pick. This widely recognised throughout the AFL. You would still get something top 5 pick worthy for him.

Grigg is only worth a late 2nd or 3rd rounder. He wasn't a high pick and hasn't played any AFL so why would he command anything more.

Lyon has only improved his value. Has got some AFL into him and wasnt a high pick. He would probably be worth just under what Polec is if not the same.

Difference with Lyon and Polec is. Polec has struggled when played at AFL level and is playing in a 2nd rate league when not in the Lions side. He has also been injured a lot hindering his development.

Lyon whilst not setting the world on fire looks comfortable at AFL level and is tearing up what most consider the best league outside the AFL.

So every club should assume that their players are going to do a Tippett on them and should cut their losses at the first hint of homesickness?

I'd hope that Tippett is the exception, not the rule.
 
If we take White i will be pissed
Although next year with a bit of money we should throw a heap at one of sydneys stars get him to nominate us and only us then offer them a second rounder and you will only get that if you take White o the lol's

I finally feel we might have the power in this situation. We need to sit muppet down and say:

"We can't reach agreement with Sydney so you have 2 options, you:
1) take your chances in the PSD with no guarantee of getting to Sydney or
2) You let us do a deal with Brisbane.

There is the basic equation that even you should be able to follow. So whats your decision?"

bloody oath. i'd like polec, but i don't want us to hassle him into leaving brisbane. that's being a bag of campaigners.
