Tips & margins for this week

Naturally I've gone for the Bombers, I thinks it will be fairly close so I'm picking 27 points.

Essendon by between 8 to 10 goals. No disrespect to Melbourne....they would beat almost any other team, but Essendon can get goals from so many different avenues. Also, Melbourne seem to start their matches slowly while Essendon have premiership players like Hird, Misiti, Long, Fletcher, Wallis, and Mercuri to keep their own team under control in that first 10 to 15 minutes.

Consider this. If Essendon were down by 5 goals, what would Sheedy do? He might put Hird and one of the Johnson boys into the centre, put Fletcher forward, tell Barnes to drop back in defence and instruct Long and Mercuri to alternate between the centre and half foward lines. He can mix things up a bit. Now, what happens if Melbourne are 5 goals down? Does Daniher move Neitz to centre half back, which may stem the tide but limits his attacking options. Melbourne just seem to be more limited in what they can do. And if Farmer has an off day, it's goodnight Dees.

I've tipped Essendon but by a closer margin than most people reckon. For some reason the scoreline Essendon 17.13 (115) to Melbourne 15.11 (101) keeps on popping into my head. I've also tipped Blake Caracella to be the Norm Smith medallist, don't ask me why for some reason I reckon he will get it. Anyway it should be a good match whoever wins!

I think it will be a better match than what a lot of people are saying.

I watched on Optus ysesterday the Round 9 match between the teams, and the Dees kiilled us in general play in the first half. The only problem was they kicked 5.11

They really worried us with their quick movement through the midfield, and unsettled our backline.

Melbourne scare the shit out of me. Last year when we went 18-4, one of our losses was to the Dees and they only won 6 games !!

We dont like their style of game. They're not worried about us. They just want to play their own game which worries me.

Having said that, I don't think our players will LET us lose. Bombers by 30 points

It's going to be a great game! I've got a feeling Melbourne will be in with a sniff at half time, but I cant see them causing the upset of the season.

I'm thinking it'll be very high scoring with a lot of inaccuracy due to nerves. Essendon is too focused and wants it too much for them not to win.

Bombers by 40.

They are not favoured, nor disadvantaged by the umpiring overall, and definately deserve to be there -being the best team and all.... Freo however are often dealt a raw deal by the men in white, but it's partly affected by their style of play and lack of discipline, and obviously wouldn't have affected their position... Anyway, none of that's really relevant now, is it?

Unfortunately it will be the first 100 point margin in a Grand Final. Essendon to obliterate last year from their memory but it means for most of us we'll be looking for something else to do by half way through the third quarter.

As much as I hope for an 89 or a 97 type of game, I can't go past a blow out to the Bombers. I've seen them a few times this year and their field skills, plus the footy gods, are excellent.

The planets have lined up. Hird for the Norm Smith and Bombers by 10 goals easing down.
