Good luck to all those who do . I wont be.
Players who perform to their utmost and then leave after a good servitude period don't deserve to be booed. Would we like Carlton fans to boo Eddie or Sauce? Now if Patrick left after 2 years and the day before the Trophy night then yes boo him , or if he was the cause of untold grief at our club , then yes
Why shouldn't we boo the sheikh from Floggs Creek? If we don't, then he's "silenced the crowd", which is never a good thing to happen, especially at Adelaide Oval, which is becoming a fortress now. He changed his goalposts with his reasons for leaving so that it suited his agenda (success in 2014, family in 2015).
He disrespected us supporters with his whole "I haven't thought about it" and "It's just a hobby for the supporters" routine. It's our obsession with this hobby that gives him a job, so he should show us at least an ounce of respect.
Before you tell me about that stupid article, remember the mind games he played with us, like when he posted that picture of the Crows fans at the Collingwood/Geelong game last year. We now know he was definitely decided on going by that stage, so he was in effect mocking us fans for our passion. Was that necessary?
And the fact of the matter is that despite his "8 years of great service", he never got us to the elusive third flag and most probably dents our chances for 2017/18 with our other players in his age bracket coming into their prime and our promising youngsters approaching 50 games.
I don't really care to be honest if Carlton fans boo Betts. As much as we love Eddie and Carlton preferred to get Dale Thomas, in the end Betts left for more money. Jacobs is a bit more difficult to understand, as he was their 4th preferred ruck (even though Warnock and Hampson are terrible in hindsight). For that reason, I did find it quite bewildering that Cheney was booed by the Hawthorn fans the other week.
