I hate to defend Collingwood but their draw was far harder than Essendons.

For the 15th ranked team last year they came up against 5 sides that made the finals last year in the first 7 games (those they play twice)
Essendon however only played 2 of last years finalists.

So don't crap on about draws.

Collingwood also beat Port in Adelaide so I don't think they are worried about travelling ATM.

God I hate Collingwood, stop making me defend them by saying stupid things.

You have got to be joking right ! I just had a look and collingwood and essendon have both played these teams in melbourne - Hawthorn, Richmond, Carlton, Kangaroos and then they played each other once.
The other matches were these -
Collingwood played - Fremantle(in melbourne), Bulldogs, St. Kilda, Sydney(in melbourne) and Port(away)
Essendon played - Port(in melbourne), West Coast (in Melbourne), Melbourne, Brisbane (away), sydney(away)

So from them Collingwood only had to travel once and Essendon had to go to Brisbane and Sydney compared to Collingwood getting to play Bulldogs and St. Kilda in Melbourne(much easier) Essendon also had to play last years grand finallist who collingwood havent played yet! Collingwood have it easier.

The truth is that it isnt easy to win anywhere interstate, when Brisbane are on song they are a premiership contender. Stuff the cows. It isnt an excuse , it is FACT that we had 8 or 9 of of our best out, if you took out Adelaides number 1 ruckman(clarke), their number 1 midfielder(mcleod) and 6 or 7 other players in their team and they wouldnt have beaten brisbane up there. That is what it was like for essendon.

Well, we "arguably" do have the best depth (although it's very subjective). But even if we do, that doesn't guarantee a win every week does it? A 28 point loss with only 2 less scoring shots, at at tough venue (Gabba), after we were coming of a mentally big match the week before, minus 9 of our top players, was always going to make it tough for us. Having said that, Brisbane outplayed us on the night, and easily deserved their win.

Joff, if you are that concerned about us, and we mean that much to you, why don't you just barrack for Essendon? You obviously spend more time thinking about us, than you do your own mob, as your post to start this topic indicates.

Mercuri, Misiti, Caracella, Moorcroft, Wallis, Long, Alessio, Barnes and Blumfield. Fletcher was not fit, as well and shouldn't have played, but only played after Barnes pulled out.

That's 9, and it includes our entire ruck division (Barnes and Alessio), although Beau McDonald pulled out for the opposition, so that negated the absence of Barnes.

The players who were out there didn't perform at the level of intensity that the Brisbane players played to, so we didn't deserve to win.
