Has this been your happiest week at the footy since 97GF or what ?

Your club should be congratulated for trading skillfully and still keeping your 1 and 2 draft picks.

Now all you need is Blight and suddenly your list is looking pretty awesome (on paper anyway)

cheers

But please, be wary.

St.Kilda have "been" chronic under-achievers.

Having the cattle, and translating that cattle into victories are often two different things. I'm sure even St.Kilda supporters would want some early victories to confirm their optimism.

Hamill, Capuano, Gehrig and Lawrence and their early Draft picks, and possibly Malcolm Blight should see St Kilda climb several rungs of the ladder next season. I hope they do really well, except against Brisbane that is!

The saints will definately be the smokey in 2001

Plus the preseason draft could catch a top player form carlton ... sorry another club

I was going to say that very same thing BSA. This week is right up there with Grand Final week. Gehrig, Hamill, Lawrence, Callaghan and Capuano for the loss of Sierakowski, D Wakelin, Cranage, Carr, McLaren and a draft pick is better than I had ever hoped for.

Even if we were unable to snare players of the calibre of Hamill and Gehrig, I am just so pleased that we showed the rest of the competition that there is still a lot of fight left in the saints. Getting them is a huge bonus.

Thanks Dan, I always knew that you would bring us down with a thud!

You have made a good point though, it is something that our club has to overcome. Our Football Director Grant Thomas made an interesting point, saying that we had never attracted an elite coach to the club in our history. Allan Jeans was a 27 year old retired saints player when appointed as coach in the early 60s. If Blight takes the job, I think he has the opportunity to make a real difference.

I had to laugh when Carlscum recruiting manager Shane O'Sullivan was shattered and said he was only chasing the almighty dollar.
Sorry mate, your club has been doing it for one hundred years.

Shinboners, I think of all our trades, this one is the most likely to end in a win-win scenario. He had a great year last year, winning the most improved player and finishing 7th in the B & F. His year has been ruined this year through injuries, causing him to drift between the seniors and reserves. He can run, has great disposal and as he proved against Geelong can play down forward and kick a goal.

As for us, we have no players at all capable of playing in the ruck after Spider. With Siera going, Tim Eliott is the only one and he will be delisted. Capuano will be good for us if he remains injury free, allowing Spider to play forward and kick goals.

I can go on forever tonight.

This year has been an absolute nightmare so I might enjoy the next few days. ;D

Sorry in advance for rambling on tonight and for the last week!
