Can you imagine what type of candidate would get voted in for what would essentially be a popularity contest! :eek:
Consider the example that was cited in the OP, about the Barcelona FC Presidential election ...

... the three candidates have put forward a vision for their club going forward, regarding infrastructure, financial policy, key personnel, etc, etc. The members get to vote on the policy.

Consider another example, if six years ago,if there was a Presidential Election with candidates having policies on matters of whether we should / shouldn’t be getting into women’s sports, should or shouldn’t be getting out of pokies, etc, etc ...

... would you think that would be a good thing? Sure, all of those things happened under the President at the time anyway, but consider the power if they’d had a mandate?
