TOA's Phantom Draft (long post)

especially after brisbane have said they will more than likely take a midfielder and the fact that brisbane have plenty of talls

They said they are after midfielders, but that doesn't mean they will specifically target one in the first round. History shows that we tend not to address needs with our first pick.

Excellent work TOA, Bulldogs picks seem to be similar to rumours coming from WO - Gourdis vs Grant at pick 5 will be interesting.

Great work TOA! I can hardley concieve how much work goes into these things. Re my team, given that DeBoer is off the table, who have you heard that Collingwood have spoken to for thier pick 31?

From norths perspective i think we will go for the best available but with the mindset of getting a key forward.

Gourdis at 15 i think will happen and picks 32,37 will have an element of pace to it.

Tell me about jarrhan jacky.

Masten, Ward, Greenwood, Simpson would be great.

Hopefully we can grab Cotchin, Ward, Veszpremi, Maric/Simpson instead. That would be the best draft we've ever had if that occured. All are guns, have pace and can kick goals! All Victorians too!

Good effort!
I would not have been disappointed if we had taken Collier with #11, so having him dropped at our second pick at #26 would be great (though I'm not sure he will drop that far). If he's off the board at #26 (and if we took Pears at #11), I will not be surprised if we looked at forwards like Tarrant or take a big risk and take someone like Mulligan or other big athletic types that are raw with big upsides that are riskier, since we will be only drafting two players, excluding Bird. Two safe picks (#11 and Bird) and a risky pick would do me fine in this year's draft.

Great effort mate, a great insight into who the clubs are interested in, Ebert, Dangerfield, Otten, Mckenna, Salter and Walker seem to be a pretty good list although i havn't heard much on mckenna. I would just be worried about Dangerfield if he wants to stay in melbourne next year, that may put us off and we might go Mcginnity instead.

Thats cool. As I said in my original post, I dont know every club who spoke to every player. The fact a club has spoken to a player doesnt even mean much but thats all I have got to go on. Myers is a very real chance to go at 6 to the Bombers. He could even go as early as 4.
Fair enough mate, keep up the good work :thumbsu:

very good effort

i would be happy with palmer and browne but i wonder if we will look for a taller type at 24. harvs seems obsessed with getting tall mids

TOA, this is by far the best PD so far, not just because I nearly blew my load over your selections for Melbourne but you've mixed it up a bit instead of just following the norm. Guy O'Keefe is an interesting prospect, I know it's hard, but who could you liken him to? I've never seen him play, only heard that he has neat footskills but is a tad under developed. Overall this is my favourite so far and if it turns out this way for Melbourne on draft day I will run naked down the westgate. Tommyneu.:thumbsu:

Note: Opinion from a Biased perspective.

There seem to be a lot more who disagree with you than agree with you, Skooks. But then that's probably normal.

Great work TOA.Very impressed.
On the Cotchin vs Morton tussle id say we will go for Morton in the view of using him as an attacking CHB.While a tad short 192cms[hoping he will grow another 2cms] for CHB we have been using Bowden in a similar role.Wallace has mentioned a few times that he views the Half back line as the 1st line of attack.Morton fits the bill to a tee.
Happy with Gaertner & 18 while i think supporters will tear the place down if we take Maric with this pick[ i rate the kid he,s just the wrong type we need]

At 51 im happy with a ruckman.Although like you said we are after someone from left feild.I believe its someone from out West.

Well done mate

Very good detail and well considered.

I'll be very upset though if our first pick fails to address any of our 3 glaring weak spots:
- FAST outside mid;
- Centre half forward;
- Full back.

Selwood looks like a good get, but not for a team loaded with inside mids and screaming out for leg speed.

With your selection of Notte at 19 for the Dogs, I agree that this is definitely something that could happen...nearly went that way in the Phantom.

He surely is talented.
