Is he protecting the space or kicking players coming at him? Has done it twice in the Sydney final and also kicked the Bulldogs player in the head.

Should more be done to stamp it out or play on?

Seems strange that it’s legal. Is it? Is there no rule against it?

Wouldn’t mind seeing a defender try kicking him in the head for a change

Just put the phone down, watch the game and keep your ponderings to yourself is the best answer.

To me it's kicking. Bringing a knee up to brace is reasonable but extending the foot out to 90° is dangerous

It does seem like there is a second action to it. As a repeat offender, it seems fairly conscious.

Wanting to discus football on a football discussion forum. What a crime.

Runs the risk of causing serious injury, particularly to an eye. If that happens there should be consequences.

anyone else see Greene drop his Knee to the back of Heeney's head during the 3rd Quarter - 3 minutes to go on the clock (near the 50 meter boundary line)? Or just me going crazy?

Raising a leg to protect one’s body is understandable but some, obviously including Greene, effectively kick. When he got Dahlhaus he was receiving a handball and somehow hoofed him in the face.

He’s not alone and it needs to be reigned in. Bad look.

2nd action, thats another good way to describe it. I don't think he does it to hurt people more to 'scare off intruders' either way though it's a dangerous action

I don't like it to be honest. It's bending the rules to his advantage but I really wish he wouldn't do it.

Would a blanket rule of "you cannot fend off with the foot" be added or is that overkill?

Should be pretty simple to officiate. If the studs are out pay a free kick in the future.

Sadly the umps can’t invent that rule on the fly

I don't like it but how can people be in such an uproar over it but not care about knees into temples and so on with a speccy? End of the day they are both a dangerous act during a marking contest...

Obviously it shouldn’t be allowed. It’s nothing against Toby Greene, or Jarrad Waite who did it for years as well. They’re playing to the rules. But it is dangerous with the studs up and shouldn’t be legal.
