76 whether the eye gouge actually happened should be irrespective of the CLEAR INTENT to eye gouge.Agree that eye gouging is not on ...
... but I think the issue was that the video evidence didn’t conclusively show him eye gouging.
Even without the eye gouging, he grabbed Bont by the hair, lifted his head then slammed it in to the turf. It was a deliberate act to cause harm, directed at a players head which is supposedly sacrosanct, and could have easily concussed him. To walk away with a fine after that is beyond astounding. It’s like the AFL aren’t even trying to pretend that they don’t manipulate tribunal outcomes anymore.Apparently the charge of unnecessary contact to the face carries a maximum penalty of one week.
The charge of eye gouging was never brought against him... presumably due to insufficient evidence.

The legal counsel representing the AFL recommended a fine. During the season proper they would have been pushing for the max penalty for the same incident. They argued vehemently that Cox deserved a suspension for standing his ground against Grimes ffs. Even with the Tribunal being seperate, the AFL had a big influence in this outcome.Delete this thread. The tribunal is so completely separate from the afl that most of the members have never met many of the afl
Executive. This thread reads like a bunch of whiny losers.
I love the way Toby plays. Funnily enough, a few years ahead of Maynard at the same school.

I hate Greene as much as you, but I could barely make out whose limbs were whose in the only video I’ve seen.TRS that is a weak post mate - it was very obviously and clearly intent to gouge - the fact that he failed is simply good luck for his intended victim.
Green is a grub of the worst kind and that type of willful blindness only empowers his behavior.
If it was one on one sure. But Bont was pinned down by others. So no I don’t subscribe to your theory Wicksy! You are in the minority on this one.Agree... NicNat deserved big time weeks.
I can't see what Greene actually did wrong apart from rough conduct. Hands were on face but I saw no "gouge".
Forearm to the head with very weak force. Wrestling?
Free kick was enough for mine.
You aren’t making sense. The initial post raised some sort of conspiracy theory between the afl and gws. Which is patent fantasy.
Please, provide something more concrete?

Total agreement - in the old days someone like Leeter would half rip Greens head off or the opposition players would be waiting for him in the car park, cowardly dog.
I watched it live. He did it twice (in a seperate incident). If I can get hold of the 1st quarter footage I will edit a gif of the other incident. I'm amazed that footage hasn't emerged.Total agreement - in the old days someone like Leeter would half rip Greens head off or the opposition players would be waiting for him in the car park, cowardly dog.
The AFL are very good at suppressing that which they don't want circulated and the idiot media are just as culpable as Green and the AFL for allowing its suppression.I watched it live. The difference here is intent to blind a person OA - lets not be splitting hairs here mate.Yet guys that take a swing a at a player & miss get off, always have.
Is it the same?
Actually I agree it was vile. Should've got weeks. Knew wouldn't because you know.....The difference here is intent to blind a person OA - lets not be splitting hairs here mate.
A bloke loses his block and takes a swing - pretty stupid in today's footy environment but its a flash of emotion.
Look at that vision - here is one player hovering over another repeatedly grinding away at the eye socket.
There is a VAST difference there mate, but if you can't see that I'm not sure what would convince you.
No argument on punishments there OA but my main point was intent.Actually I agree it was vile. Should've got weeks. Knew wouldn't because you know.....
I do disagree on wild swings & missing not getting punished. "One punch", is a much talked about thing these days.
Then again I've never realised why you get less time in jail for attempted murder over murder.
Almost should get more time for being so zchit you couldn't get it right!!!
One of these days Green will bite off more than he can chew. Unless the AFL grow some balls someone is going to be seriously hurt by this little prick - that is unless of course someone like Maynard is sent to him with clear and unmistakable orders.
He has to be stopped and stopped permanently - his kind only understand one thing. He is a coward that takes cheap shots - fair enough but there are consequences and sooner or later he will face them.
