What is the maximum penalty for pushing a player head first deliberately into a metal object?

Green is a grub without doubt, but there is a clear pattern of protectionism from the AFL for expansion clubs.

The AFL is pretty bloody sadistic. Letting Toby off just to ensure his punishment is delivered tenfold when Maynard spits out his carcass in the final quarter of the prelim. What theatre!

These days they’ll only suspend players during finals if they’re forced to (Andrew Gaff)

If the proper process was meant to be followed. Cotchin should have been suspended in 2017. Barry Hall was the most egreigious let off!! in 2005

I can't see what Greene actually did wrong apart from rough conduct. Hands were on face but I saw no "gouge".
Forearm to the head with very weak force. Wrestling?

Free kick was enough for mine.
 
I can only agree with the OP - I have made a few posts in recent days to the same effect. The AFL Counsel didn't even try for a suspension.

Just like Gil would "prefer" if Coniglio didn't leave he would also prefer Greene takes the park next weekend.

What a crock - this guy is about as bad as it gets and a message needs to be sent. Hopefully a player from Brisbane does what the AFL should've and irons the little twerp out.

I love the way Toby plays. Funnily enough, a few years ahead of Maynard at the same school.

You don’t need that. You have a long sequence of video that shows with a high level of probability that that is what he was doing or attempting to do. So you go after other evidence to corroborate or rebut. That evidence would include Bontempelli’s and Greene’s testimony, at the very least. An investigation.

You aren’t making sense. The initial post raised some sort of conspiracy theory between the afl and gws. Which is patent fantasy.

Agree that eye gouging is not on ...

... but I think the issue was that the video evidence didn’t conclusively show him eye gouging.

TRS that is a weak post mate - it was very obviously and clearly intent to gouge - the fact that he failed is simply good luck for his intended victim.

Green is a grub of the worst kind and that type of willful blindness only empowers his behavior.
