He had a dogs hat on mate so I can't say how much of a supporter the was.

Seemed to know everyone else just not McLean so let's not judge him on that, everyone isn't all over the club and knows all the kids it's not like he been a regular fixture.

I will watch replay and give you a couple of times he made poor decisions but he is a kid I'm not judging him yet as I said I think that's only the second time I've seen him play but he did make at least one whooper I remember the bloke commenting on.
We arent dropping blokes for making mistakes unless they make the same mistakes over and again.

Kid kicked a goal and had 3 score assists - the ability to put the ball inside 50 to someones advantage is gold.

MD hates small forwards/high half forwards it seems, Dickson, Hrovat to name a few.

McLean was in our best 6 on the weekend, he never wastes a possession and how did he make any mistakes on the weekend? No clangers means no bad turnovers, the kid has a footy brain of a 21-23 year old not an 18-19 year old.

Seen a few times the last 2 weeks where we needed to keep possession of the ball coming off from half back and McLean came up to receive it, he took his time assessed the options and after assessing the next kick would be risky and the chance of a turnover would be high and instead of blazing away, he found Bob or M Boyd a few times on their own. You can't teach that composure at that age he already had it, he has footy smarts, how many free kicks did he win also for going in hard for the ball? A fair few it seemed like. I sit level 3 broadcast wing, I see a lot that goes on out on the field.

Oh and he's a gun kick, get the ball in this kids hands outside 50 and let him hit targets on the tit, the delivery inside 50 for both teams on the weekend was average due to both teams midfielders getting back flooding but McLean looked to be one of the standouts, this kid will be another Higgins type of small forward but hopefully better and without the softness and injuries.

Again I must disagree slightly

Thought he made some awful mistakes and decisions in first half and had a better second half in that respect.

In fact the guy next to me asked who number 16 was, I said that's McLean and his response... He is sh!te.

I'm undecided as of yet haven't seen enough of him personally to make a call one way or another.
I can't see the relevance of quoting some dope sitting near you as some type of support for your doubts on McLean's performance. The guy didn't know who the player was and obviously hasn't been watching him closely over the past few weeks.
Then you went on to quote the dope again by referring to a "whooper" he commented on.
If you have an opinion on McLean then just state it without referring to the uninformed comments of someone who obviously has no clue whatsoever.

I don't have an opinion on McLean I simply and I said that 5 times

I be seen the kid twice and I actually only really noticed him because the guy next to me said something about him.

And sorry but he did make a pretty large mistake when the guy said so BUT didn't I say he was a kid so big deal.

See again people jump on the negative and ignore the positive and I'm trolling again according to some.

We won, he played ok, kicked a big goal

BUT it was one of the worst games I've watched in years and we made plenty of mistakes so Mclean wasn't the only one ... Oh no kill the troll

Sounds like the guy knew about as much as the two loud Dog's "supporters" sitting behind. Sweet FA. It was embarrassing listening to them, the crap they spewed made me cringe and roll my eyes at the other people looking around at who was talking. I don't know why we just didn't do as they say and kick it long and into the corridor all the time, we would have won by 10 goals  Oh and Grant should never get another game apparently.

Toby McLean was one of the points of difference on Saturday night, he has footy smarts and tricks that you can't teach.

You know what I'm kinda sick of comments like this.

Because someone has a differing view doesn't mean they know nothing.

I have no opinion on McLean either way buy what's make people that "think" he will make it right and those that wonder wrong?

The guy next to me, and no he wasn't a mate I was standing he rocked in next to me and was by himself, had that opinion and good luck to him. Was the only negative thing I heard him say so he is entitled to his opinion and he may be right

So after 2 and a bit games this oracle declared McLean "shite". Must be true then.

Just wait boys for this kid to start going for his grabs....4 times he could have gone but did the right thing and stayed down.

He is amazing for his height in the air and will a few more games we will all see that..

Fantastic game on the weekend by a 19 year old immature bodied talent...
Dale-Webb-McLean with Daniel to play next week wow...

I'm sure it's been mentioned a few times but the McLean, Webb, Daniel, Dale, Z Cordy, Hamilton and R Smith intake could be like the new Murph, Hahn, Gia, Hargrave, Gilbee, Bowden and Wiggins intake from 15 years ago. 5 out of 7 hits is pretty good and Wiggins/Bowden while they were duds weren't really complete duds.

MD you are fair dinkum a prickly pear sometimes. Who gives a rats arse about some joker that doesn't even know who the players are. As to how people can make up there mind about McLean it is simply the eye test and knowing his backstory and how he responds to adversity.

I should have said I think he will play 200 games , based purely on what I have seen of him so far and the fact I have a huge opinion of my opinion after playing and watching footy for 50 years :)

Have to pull you up on this. While you may very well be right in your comment, how on earth can you say we have five hits when 4 of the seven haven't even played a game yet.
As i said you may be right, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

Not at all but the same can be said for those that think he will make it can't it?

Two sides to every story the problem in here is if it isn't the popular story it's wrong or trolling

Well mate I actually do care what other supporters say positive and negative

Unlike most I pride myself on actually being able to be honest about our club and not just tow the party line.

Now that I think about it the man had a members hat on so he has paid for the right to have an opinion as have most of us.

Coz I disagree or not doesn't make him wrong

Someone having a positive opinion (or one that is different to yours) hardly means they are towing the party line. That is dismissive and simplistic.

Yep, can't wait to see him start launching for his marks. Massive wraps on his marking ability when we drafted him.
Has anyone seen him take some big grabs for Footscray this year?
If so can you describe them...?
Is he our next Montgomery circa '97??
Hope so
