Today I learned about capitalism

Capitalism in its true form does not exist today..so your assertion by default is wrong.
Yes and im pretty sure karl marx never mentioned gulags and food queues

you know whats got 200 legs and eats vegetables?

A soviet union meat queue.

the point being that you have what a system is intended to be - and what actually has happened in real life with real people - with all their inherent flaws.

try and put a billionaire in jail for breaking the law.

Today i learned about capitalism that once again profits are privatised and losses are socialised:

At least theres a trial - unlucky they arent bankers i guess

Today i learned in capitalism that :

this is neccesary - so that five people can have more money than they can ever spend in 100 lifetimes
Nothing beats the use of a poor child starving for emotional traction!

why is their so much famine in the world!
The wealthy countries are the capitalist societies
The poor ones are run by communists dictators!

the three worst affected countriesat the moment:

Central african republic - democracy - its most valuable export is diamonds - 30-40% of which are smuggled out of the country with zero benefit to its people.

yemen - democracy / civil war.

Chad - dictatorship

Ive noticed a similar vein in threads where conservatives flat out dont believe that something was done in the pursuit of the almighty dollar - you provide them with a bunch of links to back your story up and they just go quiet.

i dont think in most cases this is malicious or deliberate - i just dont think its on their radar - and when they do seeit they think its an isolated incident.

I think as a result of being in a lefty bubble these things come up in your feed more often so you are more aware of what an uncontrollable savage beast it has become.

The banking royal commission should have given people a bit of an insight.

The fact that noone is facing jail yet another.

anyway heres my tidbit for the day:

Rather than negotiate in good faith - coca cola hieed hitmen to murder labor organisers

Mate left /right/indifferent, capatalism is how the West works to whatever degree.
I bet that many many righty or lefty thinking individuals with or without money are p****d off
with the fact that banking royal commission had no mongrels locked up, and some should have been for suffering from the disease of incalculable greed which they could not see in themselves and one walked away with millions in his pocket and thumbed his nose at Australia .
Capitalism socialism communism matters not a skerrick, its simply about greed and being shifty.
Until the paying borrowing dealing population see nothing but a facade, by the banks, that tells them
"NAH this is normal mate"????? We're not robbing you!

Again nothing to do with democracy dictatorship communism, its to do with corrupt bastards who make things sound all proper but are in fact criminals or people who really have no brains or conscience, it called humanity and taking advantage of places that are called third world nations that have not had their population develop properly as of right now.
The West? You can at least attempt to look after yourself and there are rights to an extent, don't go into how peoples rights are drowned sometimes, that happens in any society that lets the turds of the world run them. Human beings are the problem! Not names of certain styles of government!

" GOT MINE " working out REALLLLL good for the country atm

Id suggest stagnant wages, gig economy, negative gearing multiple properties are the three biggest policies hindering home ownership for low income earners.

now whose policies are they?
No!
Globalisation is stagnating wages as we are competing with 3rd world countries wages thanks to policies communist scum Whitlam and Hawke set up in the 70/80

throw in the red tape of the greens and the activists destroying business growth and new start

house prices are a supply and demand factor! Prices started to rise when Hawke floated the dollar and signed Australia up to the Richchilda bank & Endless immigration and supply cannot keep up!

negative gearing BS as every state and territory has negative gearing yet it’s Sydney and Melbourne with the unaffordable house prices due to them getting the most of the immigration of the past decade and so

Mental illness got me. Badly.
I ended up out of work twice due to no fault of my own (retrenchment then laid off as a casual) - both times the shitty mental health set in and cost me years of work.
I was able to largely live off my own investments in those periods. I had invested well, somewhat flukily.
Both times I got back into work due to the support of government programs. The first time was after a relatively mild mental health relapse (which still cost me a lot of time), the second time was severe - so bad that I am amazed that I am back working and functional.
The "capitalist" society that our erstwhile friend is so enamoured by would have probably let someone like me rot - it was a government sponsored program in each case which helped me back up.
That is what many conservatives don't get
Lol
The government sponsored program is thanks to capitalism!

Being a left leaning and admitting to having mental problems is something what most people already are use to! But admitting it in your own words only confirms what the norm of society already know!

In all seriousness, I am in that age group myself.

Whilst I don't want to go too much into my personal circumstances, I found myself out of work and really struggled trying to get back into the workforce.

In my age group, you are right - it's tough - I know from experience.

The only reason I have been able to finally get back into work is via the amazing support of a government program.
My father lost his job when the business he had worked at - for 25+ years - wound down, and he spent the better part of one and a half years desperately looking for work.

He only got another job because another connection in his area of expertise was looking to expand, and they needed a trustworthy rep.

Today i leaned that companies can do illegal things, refuse to cooperate with authorities and get away with it:

🌳'INCONCLUSIVE' NANNUP JARRAH INVESTIGATION🌲

An investigation into allegations Nannup Timber Processing (NTP) on-sold whole jarrah logs and breached its supply contract has been inconclusive.

Late last year, the Forest Products Commission terminated a marri timber supply contract with NTP after finding it had exported whole logs overseas and launched a similar inquiry into the company's jarrah contract soon after.

WA Forestry Minister Dave Kelly said the operators of NTP did not cooperate and withheld information requested by investigators.

He now wants greater investigation powers and penalties included in all future supply contracts with the Forest Products Commission (FPC).

"I've asked FPC to look at the terms of their contracts to see whether there are provisions that can be included in future contracts, which would ensure this circumstance doesn't arise again," he said.

"I haven't got advice from FPC as to what is possible and what's desirable, but I certainly want there to be a clear message to the industry that they need to comply or there will be serious sanctions."

The operators of NTP sold the business to Queensland-based timber miller, Parkside Timber earlier this year.

The ABC has contacted the previous owner for comment.

I think the whole world will have a whole different outlook when this virus is dealt with. I think globalisation has been not good, not horrifically bad but not a real good idea, where buying... by "I'll do this, if you do that", it never works out in the long run. Especially when sometimes deals move away from the actual product and you find things being imported that we grow here much better, or as good as, I don't see the point in it.
Countries need to look to themselves more now, from inside, instead of getting good and bad in deals that seem ridiculous.
And signing stupid detrimental agreements with fakes like the UN!

Its impossible to have a global village, humans can't do it, its better to deal fairly one one for each country and to have control over yourself, when you start setting up new world orders you create a new elite, that have it all worked out where they never lose, its probably the greatest con trick the world has ever seen, and people see it as legitimate.
Until you see your own country that, instead of moving upwards and forward, it goes backward, where the norm of, the fair go and ability to buy a home and the ability to get a job, and everyone gets a job, that is.
This country was not built to make a handful rich and the rest paupers, this was a country of the middle class, good lifestyle, the very rich, were very few. But they were needed too, to get the industries going, but even the few we have that are real Australians are now under threat from Green idiots and climate change nonsense as a political axe to wield.
And I 'll tell you what, climate change is not an end of the world freak out, it is a natural phenomenon, the Green left are political mischief-makers with hippy outlooks that just don't work.
And the stupid bastards can't even see what they are actually asking for! Like the end of industry, killing base load power, it is going to turn their world into something that will kill them all off with the rest of us.
In other words they are daydreamers, with unreasonable unthought out ideals. Where some are parents who brainwash their children who then blabber doom all over the world. School kids go on strike, and littlies are terrified by crappy parents and some teachers who haven't got any common sense.

Then you get Corona, and the reality hits home.
As far as base power and work goes if we never developed it with our fossil fuels we would have been able to develop industry and medicine.
No one and no modernity to work on vaccines to stop it or slow it.
Fossil fuels were not burnt during the earth's history of ice ages and overheating and disaster from here on earth and from some stones flying through space that hits us.
Fossil fuel burning on a larger scale for industry began about 300 years ago.
This Coronavirus will probably be the best wake up call this stupid blind planet has ever had, we communicate all over the world, how do some people think that occurred?
Advancement in knowledge, backed up by electricity, from fossil fuel that "fueled "the development of us all.
And also we have CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN nuclear power sitting waiting.
So we can help each other without having to follow some new world order, pack of greedy stock market manipulators, and their enemies the doomsayers who are just w***ers living in a different world. Those of the extreme.
Corona says to the world, fix this and fix yourselves too, or the next one might be Ebola! These things seem to bring some folk to their senses, and Australia which was/is (who knows now?) a lucky place to live, is now a worse place to live compared to when we had some common sense leadership and were not overloading our population, immigration not the actual people, or race, its the numbers, our biggest mistake, in this coastline populated, giant desert, island continent!

You reckon just about anybody on the planet for 60 years has not faced retrenchment and getting on their feet again. Been there done that. HAHA
Again, I'm wondering if you would be so blasé about laughing about that in person. I'd imagine there'd be more than a few who'd rather like to knock the smirk from your face.

I mean, you're plenty brave on the other side of a keyboard.

Lots of people have had bad things happen to them.

not many people laugh when it happens to someone else though.

just dicks
