My dad bought his first house working part time and studying full time.
it was a crappy run down 3x1 in what was a povvo area at the time
it cost twice what he earned a year at the time.
in 1990 i was earning 32k per year as a 20 yo soldier.
a 2 bedroom refurbished 2x1 unit in a midrange suburb 7 km from the city and 8km from the beach was 72k
In 2002 my wife purchased her 2x1 unit in the same are as the one above for 120k - she was earning 52k at the time. We renovated that unit and sold it in 2015 for $425k
At $425k it is 5 times the AVERAGE australian yearly wage
in 1992 i could have bought that unit for just over 2 times my yearly wage
in 2002 my wife bought her unit for just over 2 times her yearly wage
both of us were in entry level employment.
the minimum wage today is $34000 per year
To purchase my wifes modest 2x1 as a minimum wage earner is 12.5 x that yearly income.
On every single possible metric you are completely wrong.

I cite anti-vaxers, paleo diet, 9/11 was an American Government plot and that a lot of it was just hologram technology with the attacks being in fact controlled demolitions, Hanson reckons that the Port Arthur massacre was a government plot to take guns off people, that putting Fluoride into our water (that has had a massively positive impact on our dental health) was in fact a communist plot! etc etc etc etc….
The s**t that you and your mates go on about is being peddled by those who have vested interests to protect or want to get elected and point the finger at those nasty “commies” as a diversion from their own corruption. Unfortunately, it’s also being propagated by decent, hard working people who just accept that it must be the truth because someone that they admire and trust, a person or persons of esteem have repeated the Agenda 21, Lima Agreement etc assertions therefore, it must be true. That’s what Joseph Goebbels wanted to achieve - people of substance and high standing repeating a falsehood which made the falsehood “legitimate” and people that can't see the forest for the trees, people like you, help f**k up this world!
and when Honest John halved the capital gains tax and turned the brilliant Negative Gearing legislation which was put in place by Hawke and Keating to address the crisis in housing left by Honest John, Howard changed the capital gains tax and turned Negative Gearing into a free for all for developers, speculators and assorted spivs and the house prices went through the roof.

See, that actually makes me angry.
I hadn't necessarily bought the lie that there was nothing that we could do to combat homelessness; I knew it could be done, but that there wasn't there wherewithall to do it amongst other priorities. If this could be done this swiftly, the second that more than the underclasses were affected, it means that they absolutely could have done it at any time and just chose not to.
What a failure of government and of society that is. How shamed we are and should be, for indulging their - and our - selfishness, and allowing other humans to remain in the cold?

The only reason capitalism works and stock markets have risen since the last crisis (GFC) is because socialist measures were adopted to fix the mess.
