Neale gone, S.Hill and Hogan most likely missing and question marks over Fyfe, but I still see it as a danger game.

I'm also hoping the ground hardness issues that popped up early last season have been fixed.

I'll be happy to return with 4 points and no injuries.

After being on the Perth Stadium ground at the tea break in the test V India, I can confirm the ground is like concrete with a thin layer of phelt on top.

It's a concern.

Freo will also want to address it with Hogan on big coin.

The ground won't suit Hogan or Lobb. Both to have shin problems this year.

I rate Blakely and he has an injury too, so not certain for round 1. Freo are still strong on paper, and this is a tough game for us.

If we're serious about being a finals threat this year, then we should win this comfortably.

But with our track record in round 1, I'm thinking we're a 50/50 chance.

I’m never confident for Rnd 1, but I’ve got a feeling we are going to make a statement here.

To be a serious finals contender you need to be able to beat the best anytime and anywhere, no excuses.

What side do you expect to see?

Williams, Tarrant, Pittard
Hall, Thompson, Ahern
Polec, Jacobs, Dumont
Thomas, Wood, Simpkin
Anderson, Brown, Ziebell
Goldstein, Cunnington, Higgins
McMillan, Davies-Uniacke, Tyson, Atley

2nd ruck is an issue. Tall defenders looks weakish. Expecting a lot from Wood to cover Waite. But leaving out McDonald, Wright, Turner, Zurhaar and EVW points to better depth.
