Viney has stated family reasons for his departure.

Thanks for your dedication in the last 4 years and teaming up with a great coaching group to bring us our 10th Premiership.

Your contribution has been fantastic and you will be forever a Hawk.

All the best for the future and good health to you.

Hawthorn's Communications Manager gave SEN the news a short while ago.

Shame to see him go was a great part of our rebuilding and our premiership, wonder who will be replacing him in 2009

Pitty Scott Burns has already been snapped up; would have been a perfect replacement as Midfield coach.

Anyother names we can think of?

hell no!!! not only can barely anyone stand him, he would command the spotlight which he wont get, he is in the media meaning he would nto be a f/t coach.

we need full time, not "wheneer i can be f***" coaches

only p/t coach we have is Frawley. perhaps andy collins, if he wants a f/t role (which he left BHH for supposedly)

.

You are a class act, Toddy. Thanks for your great assistance in attaining a premiership for our club and especially for your most informative website column, Todd On Tuesdays.

No doubt most of the other 16 clubs (includes GC now) will come aknockin on your door. Certainly in SA where no doubt your heart is in your lovely original home of Adelaide.

We know you were a Demon but you are also now a favorite son of Hawthorn. Your face after the GF displayed it all as you embraced the players and members of the coching staff.

We will miss you Toddo!

Thanks for your commitment to the Hawthorn Football Club, Todd. You have done a fantastic job for our club and will be sorely missed. The work you have done with Jordan Lewis, Sammy Mitchell, Luke Hodge and Brad Sewell over the last 4 yrs has been fantastic and you leave our club with one of the best midfields. Thanks Todd, all the best in Adelaide.

Names to look for as a replacement, Daniel Harford, Peter German, Scott Watters, Robert Harvey, or even upgrading Barry Mitchell from Box Hill.

Port Adelaide connections, - Michael Wilson, Josh Francou

Big loss.

I'll throw up a name as a replacement, Scott West. Comes across as a good thinker and has a pretty good understanding of how the midfield/stoppages work.

I am delighted that Todd is heading to the crows

If your club is able to land Rick MacGowan it would be an awesome appointment, however I an not sure whether Rick's business interests would enable him to take on an AFL job

Rick has a exceptional footy brain
played 250+ games in the sanfl
won premierships as a player
won numerous club B&F awards including in a premiership year
Ricky was Dew's mentor when Dew started playing senior footy at the age of 17
has excellent player development capability
has excellent player management skill
was coached at Central by Clarko
has been senior coach of sturt for past 2 seasons
in 2007 took sturt from bottom to the finals in his first year as coach

don't be scared away by the fact Rick did not play AFL, he would be an exceptional pick up by your club

Thanks for your work Todd and all the best even if you are going to the bloody stinky Crows:mad:

Todd has a bit of Gypsy in him. I remember going to the auction of his house in Glen Iris just off the bottom of Glen Iris Road a few years ago. Stood in the street near Gary Lyon who glared at anybody that even made eye contact with him:eek: Sorry Mr.Cruise.
Then Todd went up to the Murray for a few years which apparantely appeased his wife with the distance to Adelaide, and now back there, which is bizarre after 25 years??

Good luck, but not to much;)

We should go after Paul Hudson now that Todd Viney has called it quits. I don't think he got on well with a few people in the coaching staff.

Am VERY confident the ball is in Ricks court. He will be the assistant coach (midfield) if he accepts the offer/terms.

Not good that our game plan will be in adelaide's hands next year. Luckily they aren't much good.
And our game plan will be in Essendon’s hands as Paul Hamilton is going there. Trade secrets don’t mean much these days. It’s all about implementing something new and not standing still.

Luckily humility was lost on you
