Any news from this McGowan guy?
Dunno but over in the Adelaide boards they are discussing a new midfield coach and his name came up but one supporter believes he would be going to Hawthorn over Adelaide as he has business here and is great friends with Clarkson and with the announcement of Viney going to Adelaide he is open.

The only other info I know is that he has coached Sturt for two years. Took over in 2007 after the club finished out of the finals in 2006. He has done well with the money the club has to spend, finished the H&A 5th in 2007 and 2nd this year to be knocked out in a prelim by Glenelg (minor premiers).

I would dare say that he may not be finished with this side. But if an AFL assistant job was offered to him under Clarko would he turn it down?

Bum.

Did a great job obviously - wish him success (but not too much if you know what I mean!)

Hawks have been in a teaching phase with the young kids - perhaps they will be looking for a bit more of a strategist at this point?

Some people might knock him as a head coach, but Gary Ayeres is a good assistant. I dont know if he is still at Essendon but why not try bring him over?
Coached Port Melbourne to this season's VFL Grand Final. Has utmost respect at Hawthorn as one of legendary favorite son's as has Port in the work he has done there.

The problem is Clarko has a penchant for not wishing to have past Hawks players as assistants. I cannot see Gary back at the Hawks anytime in the future apart from his keen attendances at Past Players and Officials functions.

How about that guy who's the Centrals coach right now?

Hasn't he coached them to 5 premierships or something?

After this years win 6. Clarkson was the coach before him so there might be some influence there in bringing him over. The guy might want to further his career after doing it all in the SANFL.

Sounds like a good choice to me.

Roy Laird. Yeah. But I think the Doggies are such a hard, strong, experienced, comitted mob they could almost coach themselves. They are full of players aged 24 to 30... some with 7 premiership medals...

Roy has signed on with the dogs for another year.

McGowan at Sturt is definitely the front runner for a spot with us.

Just on Todd, watch the Grand Final celebrations - specifically when Clarko thanks his coaching staff. You can see Todd ruffling his hair, not really clapping himself and with a look on his face going " Geez, how am I going to tell him."

Might just be my imagination but watch it yourself and he really looks torn.
