I'd be very surprised if Laidley was looked at.

I'd have Chris Bond as the favourite at this stage, although Suma's a big chance too. Wouldn't rule out someone like Daniher if he gets the chop, although I reckon he'll get another contract at Melbourne.

You're a good judge mate. Talk about the kiss of death.:D

There are still big question marks over Laidley. This is the first time his team has strung a run of wins together. He was the guy that paid two first round picks for Jonathon hay. This was something that CC immediately ruled out.

Since when was Laidley or Connolly solely responsible for who gets traded at their clubs?

The senior coach is the main man during trade week. Others have to sign off on it, but when your CEO doesn't rate early draft picks and is your best mate he's not going to stand in the way of any deals (even selling the farm for a forward we don't need).

The day they sign on the dotted line. No one will know the opposition players better than a senior coach. They usually have the ultimate say as to the list. They're not so involved in drafting but very unlikely a kid will be drafted without the coach at least interviewing him.

Having said that didn't the Carlton Board overrule Pagan last year?
