Pretty much. He's a major name in one-day road cycling races after being elite as a junior in a discipline similar to mountain bike XC. I was just reading that he actually came 2nd in a lead-up XC World Cup event this year as part of his preparation.
So all this started from nicoles first movie bmx bandits

He's been pretty good at XC World Cups since he started racing. But he he didn't put the proper preparation into this race, which is harder than all the World Cup courses. Too much on the road, and only lobbed into Tokyo the other day and he's not the best technically. Plus it looks like he has gone in without a dropper post (to lower your seat for technical descending), which is just stupid for such a tall guy on this course.

Pidcock has come along this year and smashed MVDP (and everyone else) in that World Cup race, but then got hit by a car and missed a few races. Did the last race before Olympics but appeared a touch off the pace. It seems he has recovered now and it looks like he's going to decimate the field unless he crashes. Listed weight of 50kg!

Mountain biking, not BMX. The course is top notch, maybe the most technically demanding XC course any of the racers have faced. The event I am most interested in over the whole Olympics. MVDP would be favourite. My money would have been on Pidcock, but he was hit by a car several months ago and coming back from a broken collarbone. Flueckiger could cause an upset due to his better technical skills that are suited to this course. Can't pick between the 3. Schurter the GOAT, but like Federer he is a bit past it. But I wouldn't count him out. Avancini is a wildcard, been AWOL training in Brazil instead of racing with the others, so there is no formline and hot/humid won't phase him. The Aussie has no hope, but his wife is racing tomorrow and has a chance at bronze. She has good results of of late, has the skills to handle the course, and with a bit of luck could medal.
That was a sick spill

Good on for getting up and going again
