Day 8 saw our medal tally keep ticking along, including another gold. Day 9 will see it continue due to Matt Wearn in the men’s laser sailing and there are other chances in the pool too.

Highlights include:

* Women’s 50m freestyle final (McKeon, Campbell)
* Athletics mens 400m heats (loaded field, Aussie Alex Beck in heat 1)
* Women’s 4x1 medley relay (our last hope in the pool)
* Men’s 4x1 medley relay (medal possibility but not much more)
* BMX freestyle final (Aussie Logan Martin had the highest score yesterday, and is gold medal favourite)
* Men’s hockey QF Kookaburras v Netherlands
* Sailing men’s laser medal race (Matt Wearn has secured gold, just needs to finish)
* Athletics men’s high jump final (Starc)
* Women’s water polo Australia vs South Africa
* Athletics mens 800m SF, Aussies in all 3 semis.
* Men’s 100m SF and final (Rohan Browning attempting to make the final)

Today could be a golden day. Solid day of tv viewing anyway...

Wearn will collect his
Good chance for 2 in the pool
Logan favourite for the bmx

A good day in the mens 470 could make another likely too.

With the hockey boys playing the Dutch, plus 5 bloody games of footy and supercoach finals, its a bonanza!

With all this Olympics action going on, I almost forgot about the AFL games on Saturday.

I wish I did.

Thanks, dopey paper says 11.10 AEST - must be start of women's final time. yep its the women's final which has started

Aussie currently in first position after half the girls have competed their first run in the BMX freestyle final.

Holding bronze will be a stellar effort. The US chick in front is on another planet. The Brit who stacked it will maybe get 2nd with a clean run.

It's best score out of 2. Yesterday was average from 2.
