Britain taking their biggest squad ever, a few have been hit with covid but that will most likely happen to most teams.

You could lay them at low 1.10s to win gold earlier this month but the value is obviously gone now.oh sh*t my bad i thought they were $1.10 to win the gold medal, They are $1.10 to win the group. I read the odds wrong. Ok $1.36 is not worth laying
Host nations usually experience the residual effects for a couple of subsequent games and this was the case for the Australian swimming team which actually peaked in Beijing with 20 medals (18 in Sydney, 15 in Athens). We've picked up 10 medals in the past 2 games.

Yes, oppose all and just back the Yank. Their college system is a proven success.I honestly can't think of an event or a team sport where Australia are considered < $3.00 to win Gold.
The TAB has 5 events in the swimming where Australia is under evens to win Gold (4 in the women , 1 in the men). Given the nature and bias of the TAB for Australian swimmers, would it be worth opposing any of these?
Mens 400 m freestyle- Winnington to win Gold $1.95
Womens 400 m freestyle- Titmus to Win Gold $1.40
Womens 200 m backstroke- McKeown to Win gold $1.42
Womens 200 m freestyle- Titmus to Win Gold $1.45
Womens 100 m backstroke- McKeown to win Gold $1.75
If Mckeown and especially Titmus hold form they should be winning. Ledecky obviously a legend but can’t see any way she beats her own WR while Titmus is looking good to go past it. She almost broke the 200 WR from the supersuit era in the trials which shows she’s flying. No real value at her price but I’d be in no rush to be against.
I’d be very aware of each books T’s&C’s for any bets these games. Covid already wreaking havoc and will the entire games. Makes pricing anything near impossible this far out from events.
The trials have previously been timed differently which was much smarter by the US and allowed them to peak better at the games. Both trials at the same time this year should change that a bit.Over the last 3 games our Swimmers have always massively underperformed their best relative to the American's who generally jump out of the ground in the pool like they've been at the Warrnambool dunes for 6 months.
I'd definitely be pricing in Australian regression and US progression from what we have seen the last year or so

Overall I’d say there’s still a good chance the US do find another level and the aussies drop off a bit but I’d seperate Titmus from that. She’s consistently swimming at a level that would’ve challenged Ledecky in 2016 and has already beaten her at a World Champs when she was 18. It’s a big ask for Ledecky to match or possibly have to go even better than 5 years ago.
That’s true, but it definitely helped that their swimmers who qualified could go and prepare for the games when ours were trying to peak at the trials to get a swim then get up quickly again for the actual games.I think its more about the competitive environment the Yanks grow up in compared to us rather than the timing of the trials. Our choke factor is historically massive. I mean Liesel Jones was arguably the GOAT breastroker and forgot to breath FFS

In 3 x3 basketball, a game ends at 21 points or after 10 minutes whichever comes first. Surely, logic suggests, you look to attempt more 2 pointers in the 3x3 version over the 1 pointer? (The equivalent of 3 pointers and 2 pointers in the normal game)Lol is this a real sport? JFC the olympics have totally jumped the shark - surprised there is not bonus points for dunking in the 3x3 comp
I'm more surprised anyone is competing in this rubbish at all rather than why someone would skip itsurprised to not see USA competing in 3x3 mens basketball........wonder why that is?
surely they would be favs if they were competing in this version as well?
if swimmers and athletic competitors are allowed to compete in multiple events eg 100 metres, 200 metres , 400 metres of athletics, what's to stop players in future competing in the normal basketball version and the 3x3 version?
it just got me thinking
My only thinking the difference in this game would be the test of your endurance but its like having T20 cricket and ODI cricket, the formats are only slightly different.
We don't pay for medals but our Olympic programs get heinous amounts of government subsidies which are also generally positively related to results.
AIS is like the cricket academy. First to pump the money in and do it properly so had an advantage but as soon as everyone else copies that is gone. We got a bit of a trail with the women's sport as other countries couldn't gaf about women's funding but even that is mostly gone now.
