You guys have to be joking. There is no question Barass will be a good player but he is playing very safely at the moment. Takes the odd good mark and spoils everything else but he is not confident enough yet to attack from the back. eMac has displayed great defensive technique and has attacked from the back line his kicking was suspect on occasion for a very short time but he kicks both feet well. Barass is very much one sided. eMac was all Australian in everybody's opinion but was injured he is a bit off the pace but he needs to build just a bit of confidence and you have a return to all Australian form. He is still playing well even though not at top form but people want to get rid of him....really?
Um...why not have both and keep Schofield out.

Whilst it's easy to question these seemingly random changes, I'd like to think that the match committee have a better idea of how things are than most of us do.
Doesn't mean the decisions will work out, but hindsight(or foresight if you think you know better) is a wonderful thing. :p

Like when they played Cox, Nic Nat and Lycett in the same team?

bringing schoey straight back is a joke. our 3 kpd's all stood up in that melbourne barrage last week. Schofield has got so complacent this season that bringing him back straight away is a joke. let him take another week off for his concussion and play him at ep for another week. Barrass should be playing till his form dips.

Making a flippant barely-serious comment and then proclaiming 'I Told You So!' doesn't make you all-knowing. :p
Seriously though, I'm pretty Simpson said on quite a few occasions that he played the three ruckman more because of player availability rather than out of any strategic value.

Some call me the oracle.......................
...................................some call me a d***head.
I think he didn't want to upset Cox so he kept playing him even though he was clearly well past it.

We must see a different player, EMac attacking from the back? Not his game... Kicks well with both feet? I disagree.

And no joke with Barrass, gun.

Keeps the guy hungry

We have to trust the match committee ...they see players train, get the feedback from fitness staff and so on

Except blokes like Huthings get gifted game after game.

Team balance he had to play ...we have very few inside mids ..Reddden has not played well

Sheed has been injured ...Hutchings can play but he's not going to be a star ever.....but we need someone's side and he's in that mix

Normally I'd agree with you but when the side is playing below their ability I think it's reasonable to question some of their decisions which at times have been baffling

I've said before I think the whole club is out of form and that includes selection

I agree with you also that right now he's in our best 22

But clearly there's a niggle of some sort with tommy

Rested means he's sore possibly ..we have eMac, shep , Hurn Wellingham gov and Schofield as our back six

That's enough to stop pies of our midfield can get their hands on the ball

Rested is a polite way of saying dropped.

The football club equivalent of "It's not you, it's me"

OR, it's his first full season of AFL footy, after 4 straight weeks he may have a niggle or two and they've taken the opportunity to give him a week off and not fly. Not ideal, but hardly earth shattering.

Yep that all makes sense

Except he flew to Melbourne as one of the three emergencies

My only way of reading it is that they want to give him experience of being part of the travelling team - and they think he is probably fit enough to play in the off chance that someone gets injured in the lead up, but would prefer if he had a week off.

Pretty bizarre really.

Maybe he farted in the team meeting and blamed it on Simmo... maybe the MC is foxing... or maybe he trained poorly during the week.

Personally I reckon it's the first one, but who knows?!

Come on, if he's got a niggle he wouldn't be on the plane, he'd be at home resting and Mitch Brown would have travelled

Mackenzie isn't a 5 year old, he doesn't need a "run on the G" to get used to his surroundings. He's played 133 games and plenty on the MCG.

Personally i think the fact Barrass is out "rested" is absolute trash and you all know it. In absolute sparkling form, and clearly not injured or he wouldn't be traveling 4 hours on a plane and back with the rest of the team.

The MC has made some shocking calls lately. The whole club bar Barrass, Shuey, Matt, Shep and McGovern is out of form.
