Aish is not soft but as an outside midfielder people often struggle to separate the two.

Certainly never going to be considered a 'bash and crash' footballer (think Kreuzer, Holman, Bell etc) but when it is his turn to go, he'll go.
3.7 tackles per game last year. This year he still has 2.6 tackles p/g, Tutt, Boek, Doc are around that mark.

Wouldn't call him soft for an 'outside mid' at all.

Would love the guy to stay (and work hard on his disposal efficiency).

Having said that if up to me I would easily give him up with the pick from the possible Yarran trade for someone like Peter Wright. Would never happen but here's to wishful thinking.

In all seriousness, what do people think the Sun's would part with? Tom Nicholls?

Bell + Yarran for Peter Wright and their 3rd rounder would do me.

Have the gods aligned to give us the inside running on jack redden? I am perplexed about this exodus II from the lions but there seems to be very strong information that redden is going to leave.
I would think that the administration would be highly sensitive to recruiting players that dont want to be there, and would be doubly keen to recruit players that WANT to go there. Bells currency has never been higher and would be inflated above his real value for the reasons just stated by the Lions . Redden had similar stats to Treloar in his third season, so he is more than a capable addition to our midfield. But his recent form has been down. should we shift our sights to redden? I feel that this deal whilst not as good as Treloar is somehow much easier with Tom deciding to move

I'd strongly suggest Lions would want draft picks - esp. with their academy kids coming through. But I'd be offering a straight player sway of Bell for Aish or Redden to start with (if Bell asks to be traded North). Aish is the better profile for the rebuild but Redden would be a more experienced version of Bell essentially so would be a minimum of break even for losing a guy who'll poll in the top 4 of our B&F.

It'll be interesting to see what Swann is like to deal with for Carlton. Didn't really manage to turn the screws on many trades whilst with us- maybe Fev and Docherty were good value. I'm not sure redden fits our needs greatly.

Agree - which makes me think if he does go, we're more likely to deal with the Suns... pick up one of Smith or Gorringe as a ruck after (hopefully) showing Knockers the door. They may be more likely to deal us a pick, too.

Bell for Smith could work - or maybe they'd simply deal Bell for their 2nd... Still, I hope the man stays - he's come on enormously this year and should come on even further in 2016 under Bolts.

Smith stalling has been a surprise- he looked like he was gonna be anything in his first year. I think bell is the one who needs to decide if he's pursuing other opportunity first, has been valuable though the decision making and awareness will always be an issue.

If Kreuz was shown the door, Smith would be a handy pickup and thrives as the unimpeded #1 ruck so would be handy.

Much as I'd hate the big #8 leaving, #3 and Smith at the very least breaks even with Kreuz/Bell and probably suits the rebuild better - that's purely from a pragmatic pov.

Injury was the cause of the stall then getting back in as #1 ruck over Nicholls has caused him to slide in the pecking order.Still played some ok games at times this year but not to trump Nicholls as a mobile ruck.

Fully! I watched it this morning over breaky and if that's not an indication he would love to return to the place, I don't know what is.

Interesting timing, too.

Certainly no indication in that video that Bell is likely to go back to Brisbane.

NOT.

I'm on the Gold Coast already but he made me want to move to Morningside.

Smith is one who is not enjoying some of the "party lifestyle" stuff that goes on at GC. He's firmly in the church, cup of tea and a nice book camp with GAJ, David Swallow and a few others. I suspect he'll want to move a) for opportunity, but b) for a different environment, too.

Given the talent he's shown, you'd think he has a lot to offer and a #1 ruck somewhere, especially as he fills out a big more.

Coffee ... likes his coffee. Saw him and Nicholls in the cafe in the foyer of my work building. They were pretty cruisy. Like the sun and surf part of the Gold Coast if not the after hours part.

Have to agree with him. Gold Coast after dark is seedy as all hell.

Yeh, it's no huge scandal, I just think he's someone who would like to be somewhere else.

Given it's a Tom Bell thread, uhhh..... *if* Tom Bell wants back to QLD, something around Zac Smith might be a good outcome for us as part of out #getknockersout2015 campaign.
