Would be disappointed to lose Bell who has really come on this year, but if he does request to go home to Queensland I have no issues with the club facilitating that for him.

There is a bit of talk going around that if that does happen, a straight swap for Aish may be on the cards.

As much as Bell adds to the side, I can't help but feel that would be an enormous win for the club with Aish, who granted has not had a good year in 2015, a very talented young player who remains every chance of living up to the hype which surrounded him at draft time just under two years ago.

There's more chance of remedying lack of hardness than lack of finesse. ;)

You can't teach hardness, i.e. ticker. You either have it or you don't.

Though I'm not suggesting Aish lacks it. We haven't seen enough yet to know for certain. That's in the hands of SOS and co.

Aish for Bell straight swap?

Ill drive up to Qld personally to pick Aish up if we can get that deal done
Aish might be a good player one day and I have watched him in the SANFL and he didn't have any issues competing against men that day but I think Bell for Aish is at most a deal that works for both parties. Not necessarily a great win for us.

I recall at the time of Bells last contract he turned down a very, very good offer to stay with Carlton so I would be sad to see him go but obviously given the circumstances it's fair enough.

Your avatar cracks me up.

There is no way Bell is worth an Aish, purely on reputation (Aish hasn't actually done much).

Having said that, i don't even want Aish since he seems a bit soft. We need guys with competitiveness like Treloar.

I will be very sad to see Bell go if he indeed does move.

I never thought he would make it. I know he was a late starter, but I feared he would always lack the awareness to capitalise on his strengths. So glad I was proven wrong.

Whoever worked with him in the last 12 months (Juddy?) has done a fantastic job. He has taken a major leap forward this year and been a rare shining light.

In pure trade value, I think Aish would be way overs for Bell. Aish was a pick 7 and was reported to be a slider. While he has been crap this year, he proved he belongs in the AFL last year and that only firms his value to where he was drafted.

I think Aish is worth a helluva lot more than the pick 20-30 many here wish to pay for him. And there's no way Bell is worth something near top 10 either. Contract statuses do help to bridge the gap somewhat.

So the numbers say a direct swap would be a major win for Carlton. But it leaves me with an uneasy feeling. I worry about losing Bell's endeavour, strength, run, line-breaking and goal-kicking.

Despite his flaws, Belly has turned into one of my favourites. Wish he would stay, but understand his need to leave.

Sad to see bell go etc etc

This is great for us. Aish was a slider in a strong draft and has just put in a shocker of a season.

Bell is a rookie, with some freakish traits and hardness, but lacks composure and smarts. However he's put in a fantastic year.

This brings their value to possibly an all time closeness.

Straight swap - huge win
Bell and 3rd - big win
Bell and 2nd (late second acquired in a trade, not pick 20) - winners

So did Polec, and look at his season after returning from Brisbane.
Yeo, Docherty, Longer all looked more interested/competitive after their trading.

Are people just calling Aish soft because he has good skills or is there actually something in it?
I've only seen glimpses of him but from what I've seen he hasn't struck me as a soft type.

Aish is not soft but as an outside midfielder people often struggle to separate the two.

Certainly never going to be considered a 'bash and crash' footballer (think Kreuzer, Holman, Bell etc) but when it is his turn to go, he'll go.
