After a significent amount of thought i think we shouldn't trade him even if he doesn't wanna be here. We cant have first year players demanding that much of the club. Put him in the NEAFL to start and make him earn his spot again. As long as he doesn't get injured his value doesnt decrease so there is no harm in keeping him there. We can still get griffen and pick 1 with him in the team and i think its important we aren't dictated to by young players who haven't earned their stripes yet

The problem I see is why would we play him and stifle the development of someone else who is committed long term? If we play him and get the same deal next year than all we have done is stop another player getting games.

That's yet to be proven. So we stuff our long term development (we could be playing Mccarthy instead)so we MAY get a better deal next year. Doesn't seem the best way to go about building a club.

Given how steadfast we have been about not trading him to me the only trade we would do for Boyd is Griffen & Bontempelli

They're already trying to get rid of Cooney for a pick in the 20s at best. They'd be laughing all the way to the bank if that deal came on the table.

I feel the club's position is as much about making a stand that another club can't just put an offer for any player and we fold.
If Griffin had of been offered for Pick 1 last year then it would have probably been accepted. One year later and that isn't acceptable so it isn't really about worth.

Our record shows that we don't trade guys out after 1 year, nor do we if a club has gone behind our back with contracted guys. But if players have done 2 years and have been up front with us like melbourne were with Tyson then we are happy to move on guys for the right deal.

Depends on the outcome. Dont really care where he goes as long as the Giants win or are even on the trade

I agree with the sentiment but I'm not sure if it was skullduggery or he has told his manager he wants out at the end of his contract and has been fielding offers. To me this is more the player and the manager he could have easily said I'll see out my contract come talk than. I'm seeing someone who wants to go home (money helps) and it's going to happen this year or next.
