His got plenty of upside
Like what has he got that will make him a better than average player other than height ?
Ordinary mark cumbersome not great below the knees not great judgement reasonable kick . can't see anything that will separate him from just being an average player . Got a chance as a ruckman as a forward going to get nowhere near it .

That's your opinion and that's fine
Yes he is a ruck-forward rather than forward-ruck. Been injured this year and suspended but playing good at VFL level. Time will tell but I think will turn out to be a top 10 AFL player over next few years

Pan has given us on the dogs board a huge amount of correct info

Wasn't his last mail that the coach didn't like Toyd as a player or person and that he tried to get rid of him in the last off season to Carlton?

Also that the incident was more glassing than punch on after a beer was tipped on Toyd's head??

Different poster old mate.

Do you think that post had any truth to it? The coach does seem reluctant to use him

Hard to say. Poster is usually on the money. Quite a few other quality posters disagreed though.

Boyd will play when he has earned it which I think would be a fair shock to him in itself when you look at where he has come from.

The guy just has an air about him that stinks... Even before he was rubbed out, I don't begrudge anyone setting themselves up with a great pay cheque but you just wonder if he's hurt his career by cashing in early... Not that anyone would probably make a different decision.

His hair also sucks.... Get it cut Tommy boy

Speculation on the part of a Seven reporter.

Sorry you haven't got anything more concrete for your sad little thread.

He was not popular at GWS amongst the boys and fair to say he won't be missed. Aloof

2 meter Peter dominating. Could have had him plus 930k in their salary cap. Traded Griffin for another youngster.
One, maybe two. Pretty sure it was hotly debated at the time who was worth more at the trade table between Griffen and Beams. Every chance they could have gotten a top 10 pick and steak knives for Griff, then picked up 2MP in the draft. Ludicrous gamble by the Dogs, which hasn't, and might never pay off.

Right on the money Gillo.

There's a gamble with every draft pick. There's a reason Wright slid from a probable pick 1 half way through the year to pick 8. He's been fantastic recently against poor sides, but the gamble the Dogs took was, IMO, the right choice at the time.

Some draft picks work, some, like De Goey, don't. But we all keep soldiering on.

Boyd kicked 3 and had a fair bit of the ball for a key forward jn the VFL last week but the dogs look good up forward with Stringer and Redpath. About the right mix with some smalls as well so I cant see them adding another tall down there.

Very early to judge that. Shown plenty for a young kid IMO.
