Part of the reason is because we've been unexpectedly good, a finals team, in his time here, we're actually playing him in part for what's best for the team rather than what's best for his personal development.Coach likes him, injuries more the issue this year.
Fair enough, despite all the talk I dont doubt Boyd's talent. I also think some players will work in some clubs systems better than others. I believe yours is holding him back to develop, consciously. Time will tell if it's a good call.
He would develop his forward craft, for example, by spending 100% of his time in the forward line. But structurally we've needed him to ruck (and by my guesstimate he was rucking 30-40% of his time on the ground in his games this year) which has been beneficial to our team structure and might help us win games but not necessarily for his personal development.
