How big is he? Are we talking ready made Patton-esque size? Or does he need to bulk up a little still if he's that tall?
He's now 199cm and 98kgs. He kicked 5 goals straight this week, had 11 hit outs, 11 possesions, 3 tackles in terrible wet, rainy conditions and was given best on ground in Eastern Ranges' win over the Geelong Falcons to follow up his 4 goal performance last round against Bendigo. He is still leading the Tac cup in goals with 31 from 9 rounds which is 12 ahead of the next best.

Here is an article of him written about a month ago: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/loc...ges-to-vic-metro/story-fn53klc6-1226354564235

He has the body size to play against men NOW! he looks a mixture of Patton, Hawkins & David Hill. He slimmed down earlier in the season but seems to have put the weight back on (100kg) & isn't 17 until August. With his bulk,( he will get heavier still) I believe he will be more of a David Hill type of player, more a ruck/forward rather than a full forward.

David Hille?

I would of thought someone like Ottens or Petrie was a better comparison.

He was definately heavier last year, carried a bit of puppy fat which he's lost. Looked in real good shape on the weekend at Craigieburn - he's an imposing unit.

Struggled a bit to impact the game though - 7 possies, 5 marks and just 1 goal even though his side won.

I think Tom Hawkins is a good comparison in terms of size and game style and possibly Petrie as well with his contested marking. He has the size and athleticism to be a ruckman but he plays like a natural forward and has been playing there for Eastern Ranges this year so I still see him as a full forward.

He actually only played 50% of the game on the weekend as he is playing for Vic Metro against Vic Country this Friday so I wouldn't read much into those stats.

He looked brilliant against Country today.

Very, very impressive. For me was second or best on ground and especially playing down in Geelong in those conditions he was a class above. I would love the prospect of him at the lions. Can't seeing him go no1 or possibly 2 due to the fact that it will most probable be GWS and GC again propping up the table. Already have some classy young big KPF's. Certainly a no3 pick at the earliest and that's without knowing next years crop but certainly should and will go early.

Looks like he could be a Top 5 Pick in the 2013 AFL Draft!

Since this thread was last updated, Boyd has played in 4 Tac cup games, kicking 12 goals and taking 21 marks. His best performance coming in the Ranges' last game of the season against the Murray Bushrangers, where he kicked 5.2, taking 10 marks (6 contested) as well as 8 hit outs and 19 disposals. Although the Eastern Ranges finished last overall with just 3 wins, Boyd finished the year on top of the goal kicking charts, with 44 goals from 14 games (8 ahead of second) at an average of just over 3 a game.

Boyd also played for Vic Metro in the U/18 championships where he didn't look out of his depth as a bottom aged player and actually ended up playing a key role in Vic Metro winning the division 1 title. Following his strong performances this season, 2 weeks ago Boyd was selected in the AIS-AFL academy squad for 2013, where he, along with 31 others will be managed by Michael O'Loughlin.

Here is a video of Boyd taking on Peter Daicos in the 'Daicos challenge' which was featured on Tac cup Future Stars a few weeks ago.

Wonder if GWS would go for him given they have Cameron and Patton.(have kicked more points than two teams above them this year)
Dees have Hogan coming through to add to Clark and Dawes. They would be a chance though. They bat deep in the middle with kids.

Could be a chance to slip to 2 or 3.

If we suffer horribly in the following 8 weeks of our draw, like the general concensus is, the Lions could very well end up with pick 4-5. And I would say we would snap him up if hes there.
0% chance of getting past us if he's there. Only way you'd get him is by trading for pick 1.
GWS will most likely take him though, so we're all out of luck :(
