:D

Go and tell Melbourne's recruiter that you think he'd take Josh Kelly before Tom Boyd. See how that goes.
They were close to taking Josh Kelly ahead of Jesse Hogan in the mini-draft for a reason.

Kelly's becoming the most underrated player in the draft by a mile on this forum now. My guess is because Knightmare said he doesn't win enough hard ball.

Ah right, good one.

No we were not. We wanted Hogan at all costs.

Belive what you will. Boyd is not getting out of the top 2.

Reports suggest otherwise.

Believe what you will, but you're in a very small minority if you think Melbourne will take Boyd with a top 2 pick.

Mainly because GWS will take him.

Hope what you will, doggies aint getting him.

Sure, they probably will, but if they don't, Melbourne won't pick him either.

Second paragraph is a troll, but whatever, I already know. St.Kilda are about an 80% chance to finish below us and Brisbane would be 50%. They'll both take him in a heartbeat.

GB has said for a long time we're no hope of getting Boyd, so I doubt he's thinking it. Melbourne wont take him, and would be incredibly irresponsible if they did.

Out of curiosity, who's more highly rated out of Hogan and Boyd? Do they have different strengths and weaknesses?

From what I've seen, Boyd is considerably bigger, a better one-grab mark, and a better shot on goal. Hogan is more versatile, puts in better second efforts, a bit more mobile, and gets more of the ball.

Hogan more the CHF and Boyd more of an old-school FF.

Boyd v Hugh Goddard?

Here's the situation with this amazing talent:

GWS will draft him at #1. Their forward line will consist of Boyd and Jeremy Cameron. I feel like GWS will put Patton up for trade due to his injury history in exchange for another 1st round pick (maybe a 2nd also) or even an extra player. But then again, this is just another novice opinion. If this will be the case, expect St Kilda or the Bulldogs to hit the negotiations HARD!

Personally if GWS deem Boyd best available they should take him. They have Patton/Cameron as FF/CHF but could certainly use that 3rd tal/2nd ruck which Boyd could play and cause some serious headaches.

But they drafted Plowman, Corr and Jaksch all early, so surely one will go forward?

Boyd will fall to the Saints, IMO.

Who plays 2nd ruck? O'hAilpin? They've got a pick around 10 to pick a midfielder anyway. They'll take Boyd if they a) keep the pick and b) determine he is best available.

If I was GWS, I'd rather trade off Patton then pass up on Boyd. I think Boyd is slightly ahead of where Patton was a couple years ago and Boyd can play the role as the 2nd ruckman (something they don't really have). Plus Patton has serious knee issues.

Shitcanning an injured number 1 Pick two years after drafting him is not the way to build a strong club culture. It would alienate just about everyone and the place would unravel.

No way they will trade him. If you expect your young players to show their loyalty and stick around then you would be well advised to deliver the same integrity going the other way.

Fair call.

I guess I was thinking of the way Carlton traded in Chris Judd. They kept their No 1 pick and traded away kennedy instead. I don't think that affected the culture of the club. Different situations I guess.

Even if GWS skip Boyd I cannot see Melbourne skipping him as well. Clarke is injury prone and Dawes is a stop gap. Just think of the Boyd/Hogan combo for the next 10 years. They could be the next Buddy/Roughy or Roo/Kosi (both duos same age).
