That's the problem with calling Houli's action 'intentional'. You cant go up from that, even though I imagine almost everyone would agree that the actual 'intent' was very different.

I know the tribunal doesn't need to follow the penalty table, but having just had an appeal against them upheld, they're likely to be trying to keep as close to the book as they can.

It should be more, but I think they'll go 4 weeks, and the AFL will cop it in order to try and move on from the bad PR these stories give them.

Yep.

Oh yeah, Houli's was clearly trying to brush his arm off his waist, of course he only just missed and accidentally hit him in the face

:$

You have no idea. Houli was been scragged and stupidly slung his arm back to shrug him off, unfortunately hitting him in the head. Bugg was LOOKING AT HIM DIRECTLY, FACING HIM, and intentionally punched him in the face, big big difference. Six weeks for that.
Don't quite agree with your assessment of Houli's hit, but yeah, if you're looking at someone and hook them and they go down badly, that's a genuine 5+ weeker.

I'm at the game so I would be interested to know if the tv picked up the punch Mills gave Bugg to the guts about 30 seconds before the incident.

I don't recall that he's ever been suspended (although I could be wrong), just a few fines. Certainly not a 'bad record'. More opposition players have been suspended for acts on him IIRC.

He'd fail the reference test though. No glowing report from the PM I think;)
