Blues supporters all over the place

"I he hopes goes" ..... " He ain't worth more than 600 -700k" .... Thumbs up Thumbs up

Then

"Word is he staying" .... " We must have upped our offer" ..... Thumbs up Thumbs up

A roller coaster of emotions :tearsofjoy:
They're just seeking direction from the media because they're not getting any leadership from the club

What can the club say?

Nothing is probably going to be said either way until the season is over.

Would De Koning's camp want the decision out there knowing if they telegraph he's leaving before season end he'll cop a lot of booing and abuse at games.

It was more a swipe at Carlton leadership in general rather than the specifics here

Has anyone thought that perhaps within all this Rowan Marshall wants/is expected to leave and TDK is basically the way to replace Marshall while not giving up the compensation Marshall brings ?

Gut feel is this might be the way this is heading

Marshall is a competent foward and can give the 2nd option to King
no reason why they couldnt play both in the same team

Marshall is contracted for another two years after this year. so he goes no where unless we want him to and are going to get very well compensated in trade for

Lyon is definitely the type of coach that will trade someone out if he feels their attitude isn't 100% behind him though. It's unlikely but I could imagine a low key trade on the last day that no one really spoke about

I wouldn't be surprised if Marshall wants Geelong but the reality is Saints will want a high first rounder and we won't pay that (early second we might).

Cats wont have an early 2nd and would your 2nd rounder would be something like 33/34 currently and could end up 45-48
your 1st could be in the 20's

I meant we would trade into an early 2nd say in the first few picks of round 2.
With other things that we have planned I just don't see us trading a r1 for a 30yo but I can see why Marshall would want to come.

In this years draft with talent thin and the Cats 1st pick possibly around 20+
Cats still in the window that could be a very smart trade rather than a kid in the 20's

It’s tough on them for sure, they don’t know whether to go too hard on slagging him off now in case he does go to he Saints.

Whatever the end outcome through, Blues fans will claim a moral victory.

TDK would be taking into account that Carlton have played one less game due to the bye when considering why St Kilda are a full game clear of his current club on the ladder.

The only consideration for TDK is does he want to play in front of 30k for Saints or 80k for Blues, and is that worth $500lk a year…. I also wouldn’t rule out Cats coming out with a deal that sees Tom become ambassador at Costa Fresh.

Yes. This is the consideration.

Not the reported $5m difference between the two offers.

I agree can’t rule anything out but marshal is still a top 5 in the competition level ruckman his fit and very durable, our plan originally in chasing tdk was so we could play rowan mostly forward to take pressure of king , so unless we can trade rowan for a premier midfielder a butters type player, or get draft picks that allow us to draft an elite one , I don’t see him going anywhere

He might also be thinking "If these mad campaigners are offering me 1.7million why aren't any good teams"
I just hope Tom is thinking about the pressure, effectively being the highest paid player in the comp will bring. Will be added scrutiny from the media, pressure from his teammates who is he has a bad run be thinking why am i doing all the hard work but getting paid half as much as Tom, internal pressure to perform which could be a burden that messes with your head. Have a chat to someone like Tom Boyd and realise its not all roses.
