We'd be probably looking to trade back into this year's draft.

I saw on our board someone floating the idea of a future first for TDK and this year's second-rounder. Maybe something along those lines could be worked out.
We will be trying to load up on this draft. Have some projected first round father sons next year and this year has been touted a Superdraft from many years out.

I'd think whoever he ends up nominating would have the understanding we're after picks in this years draft if he is to go.

Car and Geelong have done a bit of business over the years... would they try to get a player involved? It has not always worked taking a geelong player but who knows.

As shown with Ven Rooyen or Georiades... I think it can worth change in a matter of minutes. Would we trade our r1 for him and get something back... Something in the P15/P20 range

my bet is yes. He would be closer to ready than any of the talls in this years draft, and just like your point with Stanley , we probably are willing to pay for that and hope improvement and consistency will come in the second part of his career.

Carlton would probably want a player yes but i cant see anyone of obvious enough quality from our end that would want to go that fills a need for them so it will be a pick trade.

Honestly i think a late 1st/early 2nd adequately values his boom of bust potential (ie theres lots of talent there but the output isnt and he could go either way).

I doubt we would risk trading a future 1st with our ageing list.

More likely i would say is our current R1 for tdk.
We will be able to use parfitt plus any other fringe players wanting out to get back into the later part of the draft (ie R2 and 3).

Not going to happen but I'd drive TDK down there myself if Brad Close was involved. Our half forwards are dreadful and Closey loves a long sleeve.

If Geelong managed to sign him up, it really keeps us afloat because he and Conway could develop into an exceptional ruck duo. Would even allow Tom to go forward as the imminent retirement of Hawkins will leave big shoes to fill.

I doubt that DeKoning will play any good football at Carlton this year, and unless Pittonet gets injured or has a huge form slump I don't know if he will even get a chance.

With TDK's market value falling I'd expect plenty of interest at year end. Deal is probably already being done right now. Anything inside the top #30 I'd be happy with, but rather a player.

IMO his best football in the future will played out of the goalsquare with some very light ruck duties. Has proven he's not a #1 ruck.

Can see why Sydney and Geelong (post-Hawkins) would be interested. Not sure of the fit at St Kilda but SOS loves doubling down on his failed draft picks.

He is OOC...I guess if you open the purse like you did for Williams you could offer something hard to say no to... As it stands I think you might have to add to Tom Dekong if those were in a trade. His performance in finals... has him highly rated now.

Lets put it this way also

If Bailey Williams vs Tom De Koning happened this weekend, Williams would win and Williams is both injured and not very good

TDK has played big games before, he just is very inconsistent. Was extremely good vs Hodor last year and had a massive 2nd half vs Sydney last year. His issue is not ability, its application and consistency. More interested in taking mark of the year than winning games sometimes.

geelong should wait a year and get sean darcy in free agency

As usually happens, has likely been dropped so they can get games into players who want to stick around.

On pure form, would be our 1st with a 2nd coming back.

On hype and projection, probably our 1st with a 3rd coming back, or even a 4th.

Has probably already told the club of his decision privately, hence being down the coast, and them relegating him to the VFL.

Seems like he's informed Carlton of his intentions to leave and they've decided to keep him in the reserves while getting games into player that will be there next year. Find it hard to believe Carlton's 22nd best (available) player is better than TDK.

Or he was dropped because he wasn’t playing very well. Who tells the club they’re leaving in Round 7? Like seriously, what would be the point of that?

“As usually happens”

Sorry, on what earth does this “usually” happen?

More likely he was dropped because Pittonet is a better ruck and it doesn't make sense playing two rucks when neither are a threat forward

You wouldn't not b playing a bloke round 7 because you think he might go

He just had 7 disposals and 2 marks in the VFL mate

Its got nothing to do with the 22nd best player. He's not as good as Pittonett and he's a long way behind Curnow and McKay.
